Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Machinist to support our Manufacturing and Innovation team by fabricating, modifying, and maintaining precision components used in prototype and pre-production systems. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with engineers in a collaborative R&D environment and help bring cutting-edge technology from concept to reality.

Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools, including lathes, mills, and drill presses.
Machine precision parts according to engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications.
Perform in-process and final inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring equipment.
Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T callouts, and dimensional tolerances.
Maintain and calibrate machining equipment while ensuring safe operation.
Collaborate with engineering teams to improve manufacturability and optimize designs.
Assist with the assembly and fit-up of prototype mechanical systems.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe machine shop environment.
Track material usage and notify operations of low inventory.
Document machining processes, inspection results, and completed work orders.
Support manufacturing scale-up activities as production expands.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Completion of a machinist apprenticeship, vocational program, or associate degree in machining/manufacturing technology preferred.
Strong understanding of machining principles and mechanical fabrication.
Ability to read engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T.
Experience working with aluminum, stainless steel, HDPE, PTFE, and other engineering materials.
Excellent mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
Authorized to work in the United States.

Required Experience

2–5 years of machining experience in a production, prototype, or R&D environment.
Experience operating manual machine tools.
CNC milling or turning experience (Haas, Mazak, or similar) strongly preferred.
Proficiency using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, and CMM equipment.
Experience with welding (TIG/MIG), sheet metal fabrication, or mechanical assembly is a plus.
Previous experience supporting engineering teams with prototype fabrication is highly desirable.
