Full Job Description

Position Summary

Richmond Academy of Ballet is seeking a friendly, organized, and customer-focused Front Desk Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for our students, families, and visitors. This role is essential in creating a welcoming environment while ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the studio. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, technologically comfortable, and enjoys working with children and families in a fast-paced arts environment.

Key Responsibilities of Front Desk & Customer Service

Welcome and assist students, parents, and visitors with a warm and professional attitude.
Answer and direct incoming phone calls.
Respond to inquiries regarding class schedules, policies, and general studio information.
Assist parents with downloading and navigating the Richmond Academy of Ballet app.
Answer basic questions regarding the teacher/ parent portal and direct more complex issues to appropriate staff.
Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries electronically

Administrative Duties

Collect tuition and other payments accurately.
Enter prospective client information into software
Create and update digital signage slides.
Print important studio documents and communications.
Laminate signs and instructional materials as needed.
Maintain organized front desk records and office supplies.

Studio Operations

Open the studio each day, ensuring facilities are ready for classes.
Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the front desk, lobby, and common areas.
Restock studio supplies as needed.

Costume & Event Support

Encourage and coordinate parent volunteers to assist with costumes during performance season.
Steam costumes to ensure they are performance-ready.

Qualifications

Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Comfortable learning and using technology, including CRM systems and digital display software.
Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
Ability to work independently while collaborating with staff and instructors.
Positive attitude, professionalism, and attention to detail.
Previous reception, administrative, or customer service experience is preferred.

Desired Qualities

Evening availability weekdays/ Saturday morning (2-3 days per week): 3 hour shifts
Friendly and welcoming personality.
Dependable and punctual.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Comfortable working with children, parents, and instructors.
Ability to remain calm and organized during busy class and recital seasons.
Familiarity/ experience with dance studios highly desirable

Pay Rate

$18-23 per hour, depending on experience
