JOB SUMMARY
Under the guidance and supervision of the Executive Director, the Director of Finance shall be responsible for development and implementation of the annual budget for Hope and Justice Project, Inc. and conducting the financial business of the agency in compliance with all applicable accounting and audit standards. This position requires technical knowledge and skill as well as the utmost confidentiality in handling highly personal issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops agency-wide budget, working in collaboration with Executive Director
- Implements all grant and contract financial activities, including billing and drawing down funds and reports as required by specific funding sources
- Completes all required reports for submission to outside agenciees
- Completes quarterly financial statements and highlights for Board distribution
- Assures that agency financial and personnel management is in compliance with MAAP and non-discrimination standards
- Manages agency cash flow
- Supervises staff in the implementation of duties related to financial management
- Supervises: Housing Specialist and Administrative Assistant
- Coordinates employee benefits programs
- Coordinates annual audit with independent auditor
- Assists Executive Director with grant writing, personnel management, and communication with Board of Directors
- Completes end of year financial activities
- Collaborates with and assists HJP advocacy staff with the following
Provides confidential crisis intervention, safety planning, and advocacy through the HJP 24-hour hotline, face to face in outreach locations, including court.
Participates in special projects, training, and facilities maintenance.
Complies with and supports the Hope and Justice Project mission, philosophy, policies, procedures, and ethical standards as outlined in the HJP Employee Handbook.
Participates in staff development, meetings, training, and administrative tasks.
Provides timely and accurate records and reports.
Participates in activities of the Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence to support program implementation, compliance with MCEDV Quality Assurance Standards, public policy development, and implementation of state and federal laws regarding domestic and sexual violence.
- Interacts harmoniously and effectively with others, focusing upon the attainment of Hope & Justice Project goals and objectives through a commitment to teamwork.
- Conforms to acceptable attendance/punctuality standards as expressed in the Employee Handbook.
- Performs other related tasks, as requested.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in business management or accounting with five (5) years’ experience preferred. However, an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates ability and professional knowledge may be considered. Proficiency with QuickBooks Accounting software and computer systems required. Understanding and sensitivity to issues of sexual and domestic abuse and violence required. Demonstrated skills in direct assistance for individuals in crisis, collaborative leadership and ethical professionalism required. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills required. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality required. Self-direction, organization, motivation, and attention to detail required. Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software applications, especially Microsoft Office software required.
Ability to travel required. Current valid Maine State Driver's License required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/CONDITIONS/REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear.
The employee is required to stand, walk, kneel, bend, crouch, reach overhead, grasp, push, and pull, use hands to finger, handle, or operate objects, controls, or equipment. The employee must be able to work at a computer terminal for extended periods of time.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work is performed most frequently in a busy office setting.

Pay: $64,584.00 - $69,182.00 per year
