Overview

Join our dedicated team as a Dietary Aide/Cook and play a vital role in delivering nutritious, delicious meals that enhance the well-being of our residents. In this energetic position, you will be responsible for preparing and serving meals with precision and care, ensuring all dietary needs are met in a safe and sanitary environment. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will contribute to a warm, welcoming atmosphere where residents feel valued and cared for every day.

Responsibilities

Assist in food preparation and cooking, adhering to established recipes and dietary guidelines.
Serve meals to residents with professionalism, ensuring proper portioning and presentation.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, dining areas, and food handling surfaces in compliance with food safety standards such as JCAHO regulations.
Follow safe lifting practices when handling heavy ingredients or equipment, utilizing manual handling techniques to prevent injury.
Support the dietary department by managing food inventory, stocking supplies, and assisting with meal bussing and cleaning duties.
Operate kitchen equipment safely, including ovens, mixers, and refrigeration units, while adhering to workplace safety protocols.
Work collaboratively with nursing staff to accommodate special dietary requirements for residents with specific health needs or restrictions.

Requirements

Prior experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly preferred.
Knowledge of food production, preparation, sanitation, and food safety procedures.
Ability to work efficiently within time constraints while managing multiple tasks effectively.
Strong understanding of nutrition principles and adherence to dietary requirements for diverse populations.
Experience working with geriatric patients or in a dietary aide role is advantageous.
Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment safely and maintaining workplace safety standards.
Basic math skills for portion control and inventory management.
Excellent customer service skills with a positive attitude toward residents and team members.
CPR certification and knowledge of personal protective equipment (PPE) use are preferred but not mandatory; training can be provided.
