Medicaid Liaison

Greenwood House Home for the Jewish Aged is currently seeking a qualified Medicaid Liaison.. We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and detail-oriented Medicaid Liaison to support residents and their families throughout the Medicaid eligibility process. This position serves as the primary liaison between the resident, family, long-term care facility, and the third-party Medicaid application specialist. The Medicaid Liaison ensures all parties have the information and documentation needed to facilitate a timely and successful application while providing exceptional customer service and maintaining regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Handle all Medicaid LTC-2’s (Admission and Discharge) and in charge of the completion and submission of all Medicaid applications and re-certifications.
Tracking Medicaid redeterminations.
Obtaining and monitoring Medicaid authorizations for residents.
Coordinate communication among all parties to facilitate the Medicaid application and eligibility process.
Assist residents and families in gathering and organizing documentation requested by the Medicaid application specialist.
Monitor application progress and coordinate follow-up to help resolve delays or requests for additional information.
Educate residents and families on the Medicaid process, required documentation, timelines, and financial responsibilities.
Collaborate with admissions, social services, clinical staff, and the business office to obtain documentation needed for Medicaid eligibility and reimbursement.
Track Medicaid application status, eligibility determinations, and recertification deadlines.
Assist with resident account reviews to ensure appropriate payer sources are established and maintained.
Coordinate with the billing department to ensure resident accounts are updated following Medicaid approvals, denials, or changes in payer status.
Review billing information for accuracy and assist in resolving billing discrepancies related to Medicaid, Medicare, managed care, and private pay accounts.
Monitor outstanding balances related to pending Medicaid applications and communicate account status with facility leadership and appropriate stakeholders.
Support the business office by maintaining accurate financial records and documentation required for reimbursement.
Assist with audits, billing documentation, and regulatory compliance as needed.
Maintain accurate records of communications, documentation, and account activity.
Ensure confidentiality of resident information and compliance with HIPAA and all applicable federal and state regulations
Serve as the primary point of contact between residents, families, the long-term care facility, and the third-party Medicaid application specialist.

Qualifications

Associate or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, social work, or a related field preferred.
Experience working in long-term care, healthcare administration, case management, admissions, business office operations, or customer service required.
Familiarity with the Medicaid eligibility process and long-term care reimbursement is preferred but not required.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with residents, families, facility staff, and external partners.
