Licensed Therapist / LSOTP – Behavioral Support

Schedule: Flexible schedule based on resident census, treatment needs, scheduled therapy sessions, treatment-team meetings, and program needs. On-call availability is required for clinical consultation and crisis response as needed.
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Licensed Therapist / Licensed Sex Offender Treatment Provider (LSOTP) to provide therapy, specialized treatment, and behavioral-support services to children and adolescents residing in our Residential Treatment Center.
This is a part-time contract position that combines the functions of a Licensed Therapist, LSOTP, and Behavioral Support professional into one integrated clinical role.
The Licensed Therapist / LSOTP will provide individual, family, and group therapy; specialized treatment for residents with sexual behavior concerns or sexually aggressive behaviors; participate in individualized treatment and service planning; maintain required clinical documentation; and provide behavioral consultation and support to residential staff.
This individual will also serve as an on-call clinical resource, providing consultation by phone or video when needed and responding on-site when a resident's clinical needs or a significant crisis requires in-person intervention.
The position works closely with the Treatment Director, Program Director, Case Manager / Aftercare Coordinator, RN / Medical Coordinator, direct-care staff, psychiatrists, families, caseworkers, schools, and other members of each resident's treatment team.
Required Qualifications
- Current and active Texas Licensed Sex Offender Treatment Provider (LSOTP) license is required.
- Must hold and maintain an eligible underlying Texas professional mental-health or medical license in good standing.
- Must remain in good standing with all applicable Texas licensing and regulatory authorities.
- Experience providing therapeutic services to children or adolescents.
- Knowledge and competency related to problematic sexual behaviors, sexually aggressive behaviors, trauma, emotional disorders, and behavioral challenges.
- Ability to provide individual, family, and group therapy within the individual's professional scope of practice.
- Strong clinical assessment, treatment-planning, documentation, communication, and crisis-intervention skills.
- Ability to provide scheduled on-site services and participate in the facility's required on-call coverage.
- Ability to respond appropriately to urgent clinical situations and provide in-person support when clinically necessary.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary residential treatment team.
- Ability to successfully complete all required background checks and screening requirements applicable to a Texas residential child-care operation.
Primary ResponsibilitiesTherapy Services
- Provide regular individual therapy to assigned residents based on assessed needs and individualized treatment plans.
- Provide family therapy and family-focused interventions when clinically appropriate.
- Facilitate therapeutic groups addressing treatment goals, emotional regulation, healthy relationships, coping skills, accountability, decision-making, trauma, behavioral concerns, and other identified clinical needs.
- Determine appropriate therapy interventions based on each resident's assessed needs and treatment plan.
- Develop measurable therapeutic goals and interventions in collaboration with residents and the multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Monitor treatment progress and modify therapeutic interventions when clinically indicated.
- Maintain appropriate therapeutic and professional boundaries.
- Provide trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate, and individualized clinical services.
LSOTP / Specialized Treatment Services
- Provide specialized treatment to residents with problematic sexual behaviors, sexually aggressive behaviors, or other needs requiring LSOTP services.
- Oversee and provide clinical input into specialized treatment and service planning for residents receiving Sexual Aggression / Sex Offender Treatment Services.
- Complete appropriate clinical assessments and evaluations within the individual's professional scope of practice.
- Develop individualized treatment interventions addressing areas such as:
- Sexual behavior concerns
- Risk and protective factors
- Healthy boundaries

- Emotional regulation
- Decision-making
- Victim awareness and empathy
- Relapse-prevention strategies
- Healthy relationships
- Provide individual and group interventions addressing specialized sexual-behavior treatment needs.
- Continuously evaluate treatment progress, risk factors, behavioral patterns, strengths, and changing clinical needs.
- Make clinical recommendations regarding treatment modifications, discharge readiness, transition planning, and continued treatment needs.
- Maintain all required LSOTP documentation.
- Maintain all continuing education, training, and licensing requirements necessary to keep the LSOTP credential and underlying professional license active and in good standing.
Behavioral Support
- Serve as a clinical behavioral-support resource for direct-care and residential staff.
- Help translate residents' clinical treatment goals into practical behavioral strategies that can be consistently implemented in the residential environment.
- Develop and recommend individualized behavioral interventions based on residents' treatment goals, strengths, triggers, behavioral patterns, and level of functioning.

- Provide behavioral consultation following significant incidents or recurring behavioral concerns.
- Assist the treatment team with modifying behavioral strategies when interventions are not producing the desired outcome.
- Help ensure behavioral interventions remain consistent with each resident's individualized treatment and service plan.
- Support development of a structured, safe, trauma-informed, and therapeutic residential environment.
On-Call and Crisis Support
- Participate in the facility's clinical on-call coverage as assigned.
- Maintain reasonable availability by phone or video conference while on call.
- Provide clinical consultation to facility leadership and residential staff regarding urgent behavioral, emotional, or treatment concerns.
- Assist staff with determining appropriate clinical interventions during significant behavioral or emotional events.
- Respond on-site when clinically necessary or when requested due to a significant resident crisis.
- Assess residents following significant behavioral or clinical events when appropriate and within professional scope of practice.
- Provide recommendations regarding safety planning, behavioral interventions, additional evaluations, or higher levels of care when appropriate.
- Communicate significant clinical concerns promptly to the Treatment Director and appropriate members of the treatment team.
- Participate in post-crisis reviews and assist with identifying interventions intended to reduce recurrence.
- Document significant clinical consultations and crisis interventions as required.
Treatment and Service Planning
- Participate in the development, implementation, review, and modification of individualized treatment and service plans.
- Participate in treatment-team and service-planning meetings.
- Provide clinical recommendations based on therapy participation, assessments, behavioral history, treatment progress, risk factors, strengths, and identified needs.
- Collaborate with the Case Manager / Aftercare Coordinator to ensure treatment recommendations are reflected in service planning and aftercare.
- Participate in required service-plan reviews and provide timely documentation of progress toward treatment goals.
- Assist the treatment team with identifying barriers to progress and developing appropriate interventions.
- Provide clinical input regarding admissions and appropriateness for specialized treatment services when requested.
Clinical Documentation
- Complete accurate and timely therapy notes, clinical assessments, treatment plans, progress summaries, treatment recommendations, and other required documentation.
- Document individual, family, and group therapy services.
- Maintain documentation supporting the clinical need, frequency, and type of therapeutic services provided.
- Document residents' progress toward treatment goals and barriers affecting treatment.
- Maintain organized and audit-ready clinical records.
- Complete documentation needed for treatment-team meetings, service-plan reviews, discharge planning, and continuity of care.
- Protect confidential clinical information in accordance with applicable professional and regulatory requirements.
Staff Training and Clinical Consultation
- Provide clinical education and behavioral consultation to residential and direct-care staff.
- Assist with staff training related to trauma-informed care, sexual behavior concerns, behavioral management, healthy boundaries, supervision, crisis prevention, and other relevant clinical topics.
- Educate staff on appropriate implementation of residents' individualized behavioral and treatment recommendations.
- Help staff understand how the facility's Evidence-Informed Treatment Model applies to everyday interactions with residents.
- Provide resident-specific clinical guidance when additional support or education is needed.
- Participate in ongoing workforce-development and clinical-training activities.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
- Work closely with the Treatment Director, who provides clinical oversight of treatment services and LSOTP functions.
- Collaborate with the Program Director to support integration of clinical services into residential operations.
- Collaborate with the Case Manager / Aftercare Coordinator regarding services, treatment-team meetings, resident progress, discharge planning, and aftercare.
- Coordinate with the RN / Medical Coordinator and psychiatrists when behavioral or emotional concerns may be related to medical conditions, medication effects, or psychiatric needs.
- Communicate appropriately with DFPS/SSCC caseworkers, families, guardians, schools, authorized providers, and other members of the resident's treatment team.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and provide clinically relevant recommendations.
Discharge and Aftercare
- Provide clinical recommendations regarding residents' discharge readiness and continuing treatment needs.
- Collaborate with the Case Manager / Aftercare Coordinator to develop appropriate aftercare recommendations.
- Identify ongoing therapy, LSOTP, psychiatric, behavioral-health, community, and other treatment services residents may need following discharge.
- Support continuity of specialized treatment when residents transition to another placement or community setting.
- Participate in discharge and transition meetings as needed.
- Provide appropriate clinical recommendations to authorized receiving providers.
Quality Assurance and Program Development
- Participate in clinical quality-assurance and continuous-quality-improvement activities.
- Assist the Treatment Director with reviewing treatment programming and resident outcomes.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen LSOTP services, therapy services, and behavioral-support programming.
- Participate in case reviews, clinical consultations, audits, corrective-action activities, and program-development initiatives.
- Ensure clinical practices remain consistent with the facility's Evidence-Informed Treatment Model, professional standards, applicable requirements, and organizational policies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years of experience providing therapy to children or adolescents.
- Experience working in a Residential Treatment Center (RTC), General Residential Operation (GRO), psychiatric program, juvenile-treatment program, behavioral-health facility, or similar setting.
- Experience treating children or adolescents with problematic sexual behaviors, sexually aggressive behaviors, trauma, emotional disorders, aggression, or complex behavioral needs.
- Experience providing individual, family, and group therapy.
- Experience developing behavioral interventions or providing behavioral consultation to residential/direct-care staff.
- Experience working with DFPS, SSCCs, Community-Based Care contractors, juvenile-justice systems, or T3C programs.
- Familiarity with STAR Health behavioral-health services.
- Experience with trauma-informed and evidence-informed treatment approaches.
- Strong understanding of treatment planning, risk assessment, crisis intervention, behavioral management, discharge planning, and multidisciplinary care.
Contract Expectations
The Licensed Therapist / LSOTP – Behavioral Support professional will be expected to:
- Maintain a regular on-site schedule based on resident census and treatment needs.
- Provide all required therapy and specialized LSOTP services for assigned residents.
- Attend treatment-team and service-planning meetings as needed.
- Complete all clinical documentation within required timeframes.
- Maintain required professional and LSOTP licensure.
- Provide behavioral consultation and support to facility staff.
- Participate in required staff training and clinical education.
- Maintain on-call availability as assigned.
- Be available by phone or video for clinical consultation while on call.
- Be capable of responding in person when necessary during a significant clinical or behavioral crisis.
- Communicate significant clinical concerns promptly to facility leadership.
- Provide additional on-site services when resident needs, treatment requirements, or significant clinical events reasonably require additional support.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a hands-on clinician who is comfortable providing therapy while also helping residential staff translate treatment recommendations into the residents' day-to-day environment.
We are looking for someone who can build strong therapeutic relationships with residents, provide specialized LSOTP treatment, maintain high-quality clinical documentation, and provide staff with practical behavioral strategies that support treatment goals.
This role is ideal for an experienced clinician seeking a flexible part-time contract opportunity while still playing an important role in the overall clinical development and treatment program of a Residential Treatment Center.
Licensure Requirement
