Schedule: 8am–5:00pm Monday-Friday.

JOB PURPOSE
World Wide Metric is seeking an experienced Buyer to take ownership of a significant portfolio of product lines and international suppliers. This is a hands-on purchasing role requiring strong inventory judgment, analytical ability, supplier management, and independent decision-making.
The Buyer will initially work alongside the President to learn our products, suppliers, inventory methodology, and purchasing parameters. Over approximately 9–12 months, responsibility for assigned product lines will progressively transition to the Buyer, with the goal of independent portfolio ownership.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY SUMMARY
Purchasing & Inventory Management
· Own purchasing and inventory performance for assigned product lines from planning through delivery.
· Analyze sales history, demand trends, inventory levels, open orders, lead times, branch requirements, and supplier constraints to determine what to buy, when to buy, and how much to buy.
· Establish, review, and adjust min/max and replenishment parameters.
· Issue and manage purchase orders with international suppliers.
· Independently make purchasing decisions within established inventory and financial parameters.
· Identify and address backorders, shortages, excess inventory, slow-moving stock, and inventory imbalances.
· Coordinate inventory transfers between branch locations when appropriate.
· Respond to Sales requests involving supplier pricing, product availability, lead times, and special quotations.
Supplier Management & Strategic Sourcing
· Develop strong working relationships with assigned international suppliers.
· Negotiate pricing, terms, lead times, MOQs, and other commercial considerations.
· Challenge the existing supply base and identify qualified alternative sources when opportunities exist.
· Compare suppliers based on total landed cost, quality, reliability, lead time, tariff exposure, and supply risk.
· Manage supplier-related quality, warranty, delivery, and commercial issues.
· Coordinate the commercial side of international shipments with suppliers and freight-forwarding partners.
Systems, Data & Process Improvement
· Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier, pricing, lead-time, and inventory information in Acumatica ERP.
· Assist with new supplier and product-line onboarding, including required inventory and purchasing data.
· Use data and reporting to improve inventory availability, purchasing decisions, supplier performance, and working-capital utilization.
· Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes and reduce dependence on manual or tribal-knowledge-based decision-making.
Qualifications
· 5+ years of purchasing/buying experience, preferably within industrial distribution, manufacturing, MRO, fluid power, PVF, or a similar inventory-intensive environment.
· Demonstrated experience managing inventory and making replenishment decisions—not simply processing purchase orders.
· Strong analytical skills and ability to make sound inventory decisions using historical demand, forecasts, lead times, and business conditions.
· Experience negotiating with suppliers and identifying cost-saving or strategic sourcing opportunities.
· International purchasing/import experience strongly preferred.
· Experience working with ERP/MRP systems; Acumatica experience is a plus.
· Strong Excel and general computer skills.
· Strong communication, organization, follow-through, and problem-solving skills.
What Success Looks Like
Within the first year, the Buyer will progressively assume independent ownership of a substantial product portfolio, develop trusted relationships with key suppliers, make sound purchasing and inventory decisions within established parameters, and identify measurable opportunities to improve cost, inventory performance, or supply reliability.
Pay: From $75,000.00 per year
