Events & Program Coordinator - Barrington Recreation & Senior Services
Join a collaborative, fast-paced team supporting two growing community departments that serve residents of all ages. This role helps plan and deliver major community events, coordinate volunteers, and support a wide range of recreation and senior programs that bring people together year-round.
Job Location: The Peck Center (Lower-Level Barrington Library)
Hours: 20 hours weekly, flexible schedule

Assist with planning and executing annual events such as Sleep on the Beach Campout, Arts Festival, Tree Lighting, concerts, and more

Coordinate and communicate with volunteers, instructors, and program participants

Support daily operations and scheduling for recreation programs, camps, and facilities

Provide strong customer service to residents and community partners

Assist with marketing efforts including flyers, newsletters, and digital content

Help manage program logistics, registrations, and event setup/breakdown

Contribute ideas to improve programs, events, and community engagement

Experience in event planning, recreation, hospitality, customer service, or a related field

Strong organizational and project management skills with ability to multitask

Comfortable using Canva, Microsoft Office, Outlook, and registration or scheduling systems

Clear communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Interest in community programming, public service, or event coordination

Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events
Barrington Recreation provides year-round youth and adult programs, summer camps, community events, beach operations, facility scheduling, and more. Senior Services offers a vibrant schedule of fitness, arts, social programs, daily lunches, and activities that support active and connected living.
