Location: Newport, RI Category: Education Job Type: Full-time Posted On: Thu Jul 2 2026 Job Description:

This position is eligible for up to two days remote work per week.

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Enrollment Services Assistant provides necessary clerical and reception support to the office of Admission in pursuit of enrolling and retaining students at the University.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Office of Admissions

Provide phone support for the admissions and university main lines.
Data entry into the SLATE CRM including, but not limited to:
- Inquiry cards
- Materials for checklists
- Address or other record updates
- Admit withdrawals
- Deposits
Assist with the decision letter process including signing letters, prepping decision packs.
Data projects in Slate and Colleague to maintain data integrity (i.e. consolidation of duplicate records and schools.)
Serve as Ochre Court Receptionist when needed (for daily lunch coverage and longer as needed for sick/vacation time by primary Receptionist), greeting visitors to campus, answering basic questions, directing visitors to campus offices, class visit support, and pre-announcing visitors to Ochre Court offices as necessary and appropriate.
Order office supplies and maintain inventory.
Support the overall work of the operations team and the Director of Admissions Systems & Operations.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Shipping materials, as needed.
Managing book awards for high school partners.
Event support, as needed.
Other projects to support the office and any new initiatives.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

The incumbent is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

Job Requirements:

Required:

A high school diploma or GED and previous office support experience is required.
Must be a self-starter and willing to assume responsibility.
Must be accurate in detail.
Strong communication skills required with the ability to deal with a wide variety of people served by Enrollment Management.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a traditional college-aged student population are required.
Must be able to handle difficult clients/students. Must be able to work as part of an office team.
Confidentiality is of the utmost importance.
Must be willing to work nights and weekends, as needed.

Preferred:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is required with knowledge of Slate (or another CRM) preferred.
