CME Corp is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) to join our growing Biomedical Services team. As a field-based technician, you'll support healthcare providers throughout Southern New England and Greater Boston by installing, inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, calibrating, and repairing a wide variety of biomedical equipment.
This position offers the opportunity to work independently in the field while receiving the training, resources, and support needed to build a successful career in biomedical equipment service.
Location & Territory
This is a field-based position supporting healthcare customers throughout Southern New England and Greater Boston.
During the initial onboarding and training period, technicians will work from CME's Warwick, Rhode Island headquarters to complete hands-on training and become familiar with our equipment, processes, and service expectations. The length of the training period varies based on prior experience and demonstrated proficiency.
Following successful completion of training, technicians travel directly to customer locations throughout their assigned territory and report to the Warwick office only as needed to pick up parts or equipment, attend meetings, or participate in additional training.
A company vehicle is provided for field technicians. Depending on territory assignments or business needs, mileage reimbursement may be available in accordance with company policy.
What You'll Do
- Install, inspect, maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair biomedical equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance and electrical safety inspections in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and regulatory requirements.
- Diagnose equipment issues and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Complete accurate service documentation, work orders, and required reports.
- Communicate repair status, equipment needs, and customer concerns with customers and internal team members.
- Support equipment installations, upgrades, and customer training as needed.
- Stay current on new technologies, manufacturer recommendations, and industry best practices.
- Follow all company safety policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Electronics, Biomedical Equipment Technology, or a related technical field, military BMET training, or equivalent combination of education and relevant technical experience.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Working knowledge of electronics, electro-mechanical systems, electricity, fluidics, pneumatics, and related technologies.
- Experience using diagnostic and calibration equipment.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Windows-based applications.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage priorities and work independently in a field service environment.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous biomedical equipment service experience.
- CBET certification or interest in pursuing certification.
- Experience working in healthcare environments.
Schedule & Work Environment
This is a full-time field service position supporting customer locations throughout the assigned territory.
Most technicians work daytime hours, with start times typically between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. and end times between 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., depending on customer schedules. Occasional overtime or schedule adjustments may be necessary to support customer needs.
Technicians should be comfortable working independently, traveling throughout the assigned territory, and working in hospitals, healthcare facilities, and other customer locations.
Physical requirements include lifting, moving, and transporting biomedical equipment and tools. Candidates must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
