The Jr. Buyer is responsible for supporting procurement and supply chain operations by ensuring the timely and cost-effective sourcing, planning, and replenishment of ingredients and materials. This role requires a proactive approach to long-term supply planning and contingency management while balancing daily operational needs. The Jr. Buyer collaborates closely with suppliers and cross-functional teams to manage inventory, forecasting, supplier performance, purchasing activities, cost savings initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts to ensure a reliable and efficient supply chain.

Pay Range: $60k - $65k per year
Shift: Inquire about shift availability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain supply plans using forecasts, multi-level bills of materials (BOMs), and product formulas.
- Manage inventory replenishment, purchasing activities, and purchase order creation.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve supply issues through collaboration, alternate sourcing, and contingency planning.
- Source, qualify, and procure ingredients while supporting new product launches and returning products.
- Assist with supplier negotiations for pricing, delivery, transportation, and contract terms.
- Develop and execute cost savings initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
- Monitor inventory levels, analyze supply chain data, and generate ERP reports.
- Coordinate with Production, R&D, Quality, Transportation, Accounting, and Commercial teams to support business objectives.
- Participate in supplier meetings, business reviews, and long-range planning sessions.
- Ensure compliance with inventory control, replenishment processes, and company purchasing procedures.
- Represent the department as needed and perform additional duties assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field, or equivalent food industry/CPG experience.
- 1–3 years of purchasing, supply planning, demand planning, or related experience; food manufacturing experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of supply planning concepts, including BOMs, lead times, safety stock, forecasting, and inventory management.
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets.
- Knowledge of food ingredients, commodities, and supplier management preferred.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with RFQs/RFPs and commodity purchasing is a plus.
- Intermediate math skills and strong attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays based on business needs.
