Ignite Entrepreneurship Academy

Position: Full-time
Compensation: Hourly
Range: $18-$23

Ignite Entrepreneurship Academy is looking for a paraeducator who can support students in a special education setting. The ideal candidate for this position enjoys working with children, understands how they learn and is dedicated to creating an innovative and nurturing learning atmosphere for every student. Job Description
The paraeducator supports students as they receive general education instruction. The paraeducator is responsible for monitoring students, providing classroom support, and providing reports regarding progress.

The paraeducator assists students in their classrooms, monitors the movement of students throughout the building, coordinates student schedules, assists in organizing students’ homework and classwork, coordinates programming with the service providers and school, picks students up from classrooms for services, monitors students in the room, sends reports of progress, and other activities as determined by the administrator and works cooperatively with the special education teacher.

Duties/Responsibilities
● Adapts classroom work under the direction of the teacher for the purpose of providing a method to support student learning
● Administer, under supervision assistance to medically fragile children (e.g. toileting, assistance walking through building/play area, Nutritional supervision) for the purpose of providing required care for assigned students.

● Confers with teachers for the purpose of assisting in evaluation of students’ progress and/or implementing students’ objectives/goals.

● Implements plans, under teacher direction, for purposes of meeting students’ social and daily living skills.

● Implements, under the supervision of teacher, instructional programs in accordance with lesson plans for the purpose of assisting the teacher in improving students’’ academic success through a defined course of study.

● Monitors individual students, classroom, library, playground activities etc. for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.

● Supports the teacher with data collection for the purpose of documenting activities and/or providing reliable information.

Qualifications/Skills
The following are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position:

● High school diploma
● RBT certification
● Prior work experience in Special Education is preferred
● Ability to effectively interact with K-8 grade students
● Basic abilities in reading, writing, math and oral communications.
● Ability to follow instruction of Special Education Teacher/Supervisor
● This job may emphasize intervention with and management of aggressive students, frustrated students, emotional students, and cognitively disadvantaged students.
● Possess the physical, mental, and emotional stability to work under stressful conditions, responding to the unique educational needs of students with disabilities is frequently stressful.

● A teaching license is not required, but this position is open to licensed teachers
● Excellent organizational, time management, and follow-up skills
● Must be committed to finding ways to keep students motivated and engaged in learning activities
● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to speak and write clearly and persuasively
● Exceptional problem-solving, critical-thinking, and strategic-planning skills

● Ability to pass a background check*
● Evidence of success in prior work environments
● The physical ability to perform the job functions described above
