Overview
Here at Utah Surgical Associates we are a group of general surgeons seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant/Receptionist to join our healthcare team and ensure seamless patient care and efficient clinic operations. This vital role combines clinical support with administrative responsibilities to cover our six different offices ranging from Lehi to Payson. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in medical procedures, excellent patient service skills, and experience working within diverse medical environments, including outpatient clinics, hospital settings, and specialized units such as dermatology, emergency medicine, or geriatrics. This paid position offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to patient health outcomes while developing your expertise in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

Greet patients warmly and efficiently manage check-in and check-out processes using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
Obtain and document patient histories, vital signs, and insurance information accurately during intake procedures.
Assist healthcare providers with clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, and supporting procedures or medication administration when qualified.
Maintain organized medical records, ensure proper ICD coding for diagnoses, and support documentation compliance.
Manage appointment scheduling, follow-up calls, and patient correspondence to optimize clinic flow.
Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and safety standards across all clinical activities.
Provide exceptional patient service by addressing questions, explaining procedures clearly, and demonstrating empathy throughout the care process.
Assist with administrative duties such as answering phones, managing referrals, and supporting billing processes related to medical-surgical or internal medicine cases.

Qualifications

Prior experience working in healthcare settings such as hospitals, outpatient clinics, or specialty practices including dermatology or urgent care.
Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and basic life support (BLS) certification is required.
Familiarity with EHR systems for documentation and patient record management is essential.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently.
Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient care and service excellence across diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatric patients
Background knowledge of ICD coding practices and medication administration procedures preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams in medical-surgical or internal medicine contexts.
