Job Title: Experienced Hospice Medical Director

Position Type: Part-Time / Independent Contractor (1099)

Location: 100% Remote

Compensation: $3,000 – $4,000 per month

Position Summary

A confidential healthcare organization is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Hospice Medical Director to provide clinical leadership and oversight for our hospice palliative care services. This is a part-time, fully remote leadership role designed for a physician who possesses a deep understanding of hospice and palliative medicine and a proven track record of administrative leadership.

The Medical Director will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of patient care, guiding the interdisciplinary team, and maintaining regulatory compliance. This role is ideal for a board-certified physician seeking a flexible, remote opportunity to influence clinical outcomes and support a dedicated care team.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Oversight: Provide expert medical guidance and leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality, compassionate palliative care.
Interdisciplinary Leadership: Lead and participate in a mandatory 2-hour weekly interdisciplinary team (IDT) meeting to coordinate patient care plans and review clinical progress.
Consultation & Support: Serve as the primary clinical point of contact for the care team, providing guidance on complex cases and medical decision-making.
Availability: Maintain availability for phone consultations during evenings and weekends to address urgent clinical questions or administrative needs.
Quality Assurance: Oversee clinical protocols and ensure all medical practices align with current board standards and regulatory requirements.
Policy Development: Assist in the creation and refinement of clinical guidelines and operational policies to improve patient outcomes.

Requirements & Qualifications

Education: Must hold a medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
Certification: Must be Board Certified in a relevant specialty (Hospice and Palliative Medicine or Family Medicine/Internal Medicine with a strong palliative focus).
Experience: A minimum of 2–3 years of direct experience serving as a Medical Director specifically within a palliative care setting.
Technical Proficiency: Ability to work independently in a 100% remote environment, utilizing telehealth and digital communication tools.
Communication: Exceptional leadership skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team of nurses, social workers, and chaplains.

Schedule & Commitment

Remote Work: This position is 100% remote.
Weekly Meeting: Attendance at one 2-hour interdisciplinary remote meeting per week is required.
On-Call Availability: Must be available for phone calls during evening and weekend hours as needed.

Pay: $3,000.00 - $4,000.00 per month
