Job Description:
The Pipelayer will be responsible for assembling pipe systems for mainline water installation, storm or sanitation sewers, drains and hydrants. Ensures ground is prepped and trenches dug out for pipes, with proper grade measured for installation. Will align pipes and seal joints together with cement or glue. Will need to operate in a safe and efficient manner following all personal protective equipment (PPE) and process requirements. May be responsible for operating equipment for back fill or site preparation.
Job Tasks:
Keep work area clean, orderly and safe
Install or repair storm or sanitation sewer structures or pipe systems
Assist with the configuration of pipe routes
Cut pipes to required lengths and align pipes in pipeline sections
Dig trenches with trenching tools, machines, or guiding equipment operators
Prep and Seal pipe joints
Inspect places where pipes are fit together to ensure pipes are spaced properly and according to specifications
Grade trenches using proper tools and materials along with making accurate calculations based on blueprints or site plans
Cover pipes with dirt or other material
Job Responsibilities:
Perform manual labor in an open excavation.
Operate and maintain equipment as needed.
Able to work in confined spaces and open trenches.
Follow OSHA and all safety procedures.
Great attendance and worth ethic.
Must be able to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and stand for long periods of time during the workday.
Must be able to work in all types of outdoor weather, including hot and cold temperatures.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Experience:
2+ years as Laborer in wet utility construction experience preferred.
Knowledge of Grade calculations techniques and materials
Work requires individuals to be aware of their surroundings and have good balance and physical strength.
High School Education/GED
