About Us: North Shore Marina is a full-service marina located on Pueblo Reservoir in Lake Pueblo State Park. We serve boaters, anglers, and outdoor enthusiasts from across southern Colorado. We're looking for a dependable, experienced Dock Hand to help with daily dock operations and assist in seasonal boat winterizations.
Position Summary: The Boat Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, inspection, and operational readiness of marina-owned vessels, rental boats, and customer watercraft. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and appearance of all boats and marine equipment while providing exceptional customer service to marina patrons.
The Boat Technician will perform preventative maintenance, diagnose and repair mechanical and operational issues, assist with launching and recovering boats, and support daily marina operations. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, customer-oriented, and comfortable working in a dynamic outdoor environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Boat Maintenance & Repair
· Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on marina-owned and customer vessels.
· Diagnose mechanical, electrical, fuel, steering, and operational issues.
· Conduct preventative maintenance on boat engines, trailers, and marine systems.
· Perform oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, battery maintenance, and seasonal servicing.
· Repair or replace boat components, including pumps, lights, gauges, wiring, propellers, and other
marine equipment.
· Maintain accurate service records and work order documentation.
· Ensure all repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with manufacturer
specifications.
Boat Launching & Recovery
· Assist with launching, retrieving, and transporting boats using marina equipment.
· Inspect vessels before and after launch.
· Safely operate trailers, forklifts, and other equipment as authorized and trained.
· Assist customers with loading, unloading, and preparing vessels for use.
Rental Fleet Operations
· Inspect rental boats before and after each use.
· Ensure vessels are clean, fueled, stocked, and ready for customer use.
· Identify and report damage or maintenance concerns.
· Support rental operations by assisting customers with vessel orientation and safety procedures. Marina Operations Support
· Assist with dock maintenance and repairs.
· Support fuel dock operations and monitor equipment functionality.
· Assist with pump-out services, trash removal, and general marina upkeep.
· Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance shops, storage areas, and marina facilities.
· Assist with special projects, facility improvements, and seasonal preparations. Customer Service
· Provide professional and courteous service to marina customers and guests.
· Explain repair recommendations and maintenance findings when appropriate.
· Respond promptly to customer concerns and service requests.
· Promote a positive customer experience through quality workmanship and communication. Safety & Compliance
· Follow all marina safety procedures and emergency response protocols.
· Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, Coast Guard, state, and local regulations.
· Properly handle fuels, oils, chemicals, and hazardous materials.
· Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
· Immediately report accidents, injuries, equipment failures, or safety concerns.
Required Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED.
· 2+ years of mechanical repair, maintenance, or marine service experience preferred.
· Working knowledge of small engines, marine engines, electrical systems, and general mechanical repairs.
· Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and service documentation.
· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Excellent customer service and communication skills.
· Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Marine technician certification or related vocational training.
· Experience working in a marina, boat dealership, or marine service environment.
· Experience with outboard, inboard, and stern drive engines.
· Forklift certification or experience operating heavy equipment.
· Boater Safety Certification.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in various weather conditions for extended periods.
· Ability to work around water, fuel systems, and marine equipment safely.
· Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in an outdoor environment.
Work Environment:
· Primarily outdoor work environment.
· Exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and precipitation.
· Occasional weekend, holiday, and evening work may be required during peak boating season.

The salary for this position at The North Shore Marina is $60k- $80k.
The base pay salary is a calculated industry-based estimate and is what The North Shore Marina may pay for anyone seated in this position throughout their tenure at our company. This salary of $60k - $80k is based on a number of factors including but not limited to market location, job-related knowledge, education or training, skills, and years and types of experience.
