Full Job Description

Job Title: Aquatics Coordinator (The Salvation Army KROC Center)

Position Summary

The Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising aquatic, recreational, and fitness programs at RJKCCC. This position oversees daily aquatic operations, supervises assigned staff, ensures compliance with safety standards, and supports the development of programs that promote wellness, community engagement, and participant satisfaction.

DUTIES/RESPONSABILITIES

1. Aquatic Program Management and Development

Plan and oversee aquatic sports and recreation programs, including leagues, camps, instructional programs, swimming events, and other related activities.
Coordinate the development, implementation, and evaluation of aquatic programs to meet participant and community needs.
Collaborate with administration in short- and long-term planning for comprehensive aquatic recreation and sports programs, including facility, equipment, and program development.
Research and support the development of preventive health services and educational programs in collaboration with other departments.

2. Staff Supervision and Training

Supervise aquatic, recreation, sports, and fitness personnel to ensure effective program operations and quality service delivery.
Participate in the recruitment, interviews, and selection process of assigned staff as needed.
Manage staff schedules, assignments, and daily operational needs.
Coordinate and facilitate training for employees and members to enhance knowledge, skills, safety practices, and program effectiveness.
Ensure assigned staff maintain required certifications and comply with established safety procedures.

3. Safety, Facility Operations, and Compliance

Ensure compliance with organizational policies, safety regulations, and operational procedures related to aquatic activities and facilities.
Conduct daily inspections of facilities, equipment, and activity areas to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Recommend purchases and maintain inventory of supplies, equipment, and materials necessary for aquatic programs.
Respond to operational concerns and ensure corrective actions are implemented as needed.

4. Customer Service and Community Engagement

Provide a positive and professional experience for members, participants, and community groups through effective service and engagement.
Address suggestions, concerns, and complaints from members and participants in a timely and solution-oriented manner.
Conduct community outreach and maintain relationships with organizations, healthcare providers, academic partners, and other community stakeholders.
Serve as a technical resource and provide guidance to aquatic clubs, organizations, and recreation personnel.

5. Leadership and Operational Support

Collaborate with department managers and staff to support effective planning, coordination, and execution of programs and special events.
Promote teamwork and inter-departmental collaboration to enhance member experience and program outcomes.
Assume Manager on Duty responsibilities as needed to ensure operational continuity and service quality.
Maintain a positive, professional, and ethical work environment consistent with organizational standards.

6. Membership Growth and Administrative Responsibilities

Support membership retention initiatives and participate in strategies to increase program participation and engagement.
Promote a positive image of RJKCCC by demonstrating healthy lifestyle practices and supporting wellness initiatives
Participate in budget planning and provide input regarding program needs, resources, and operational priorities.

Education & Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration, Physical Education, Sports Management, or a closely related field.
Current certifications in CPR (Adult and Child), Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and First Aid.
Valid Lifeguard certification issued by a recognized certifying agency.
Current DRD certification or other required local regulatory certifications.
Minimum of four (4) years of experience in recreation program supervision, aquatic program management, or related field.
Experience supervising staff, coordinating schedules, and overseeing daily program operations.
Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating recreational, aquatic, or sports programs.
Experience working with diverse populations, community organizations, and program participants.

Working Conditions

Work environment includes aquatic and recreational facilities, including indoor pools, outdoor pools, recreation areas, and office spaces.
May be exposed to varying environmental conditions, including sun, heat, rain, wind, and changing weather conditions.
Requires flexibility to work in different operational environments and respond to program and facility needs.

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
