Position Title: Cadre Team Leader
Location: Fort Allen, Juana Diaz
Reports To: Program Director / Senior Cadre Leader
Position Summary:
The Cadre Team Leader at the Youth ChalleNGe Academy is responsible for supervising and mentoring cadets in a residential, quasi-military environment. This role involves guiding cadets through daily activities, instilling discipline, promoting personal development, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Supervision:
- Lead and supervise a platoon of cadets, ensuring adherence to Academy rules and regulations.
- Conduct daily formations, inspections, and physical training sessions.
- Provide guidance and support to cadets, fostering a disciplined and respectful environment.
Mentorship and Development:
- Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating professionalism and integrity.
- Mentor cadets in life skills, personal development, and academic progress.
- Assist in developing and implementing individual action plans for cadets’ growth and success.
Program Implementation:
- Assist in the planning and execution of daily schedules, including educational, physical, and extracurricular activities.
- Enforce Academy policies and procedures, addressing any disciplinary issues promptly and fairly.
- Coordinate with educational staff to support cadets’ academic goals.
Safety and Welfare:
- Monitor the safety and well-being of cadets at all times, addressing any health or safety concerns.
- Respond to emergencies and incidents according to Academy protocols.
- Ensure proper supervision of cadets during off-campus activities and field trips.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of cadet attendance, performance, and behavior.
- Prepare reports and documentation as required by the Program Director or Senior Cadre Leader.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities.
Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with other cadre members and Academy staff to achieve program objectives.
- Communicate effectively with cadets’ families, guardians, and external stakeholders as needed.
- Support the planning and execution of special events, ceremonies, and graduation activities.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
Experience: Prior military experience or experience in a similar role working with at-risk youth is highly desirable.
Skills:
- -Possesses knowledge of Drill and Ceremany and Physical Fitness Training.
- Be able to have a Category 8 Driver's License.
- Be Physically able to pass the ChalleNGe Program Physical Fitness Test (Run 1 Mile, 1 minute Push-up and 1 minute Sit-up)
- Be able to provide duties on three different shifts (0600-1400, 1400-2200 and 2200-0600).
- Have at least 2 years of Education from an accredited University, Technical College or its equivalent.
- Have a minimum of 3 years of experience working with youth.
- Have a least 5 years of military services (From the Basic Active Service Date (BASD).(Recommmended)
- Be emotionally able to work on a high tempo environment.
- Requires an ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relations with peers and others staff member.
- Requires the ability to plan, organize, and coordinate motivational activities for Cadets.
Working Conditions:
- This is a full-time position based at the Puerto Rico Youth ChalleNGe Academy in Fort Allen, Juana Diaz.
- The role requires working in a structured, quasi-military environment with strict adherence to schedules and protocols.
- Evening, weekend, and overnight shifts may be required to ensure continuous supervision of cadets.
