Full Job Description

Technical Arts Group is seeking an experienced Video Department Manager to lead the Video Department at our Moonachie, NJ warehouse.

This is a hands-on management position for someone with strong experience in live event video, LED systems, cameras, switching/processing equipment, and professional AV production equipment. The Video Department Manager is responsible for the overall operation, organization, staffing, quality control, maintenance, and readiness of TAG's video inventory.

You will manage the department's employees and daily workflow while working closely with Project Management, Shop Management, Check-In/Receiving, Logistics, and other warehouse departments to ensure equipment is properly prepared, tested, staged, returned, and maintained.

We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the department, lead by example, maintain high standards, and keep up with the fast pace and changing demands of the live event production industry.

Responsibilities

Manage the Video Department staff and daily departmental workflow.
Take ownership of the overall organization, performance, and efficiency of the Video Department.
Ensure all outgoing video equipment is properly pulled, tested, configured, labeled, packed, and ready by required deadlines.
Oversee the preparation and QC of LED tiles, LED processors, cameras, lenses, switching systems, playback equipment, converters, distribution equipment, monitors, cabling, and related video systems.
Ensure returned equipment is properly checked in, tested, cleaned, inventoried, and returned to its correct location.
Maintain accurate inventory and equipment status within the company's inventory management system.
Identify, document, diagnose, and coordinate repairs of damaged or malfunctioning equipment.
Perform basic troubleshooting and repairs when appropriate and coordinate outside/vendor repairs when required.
Maintain department organization, cleanliness, labeling, storage standards, and equipment readiness.
Work closely with Project Managers and other departments to resolve equipment needs, shortages, substitutions, and technical questions.
Train and develop Video Department employees on equipment, workflows, QC procedures, inventory practices, and TAG standards.
Hold department employees accountable for quality, productivity, attendance, safety, and company procedures.
Assist with evaluating new video equipment, technology, and department needs.
Maintain appropriate department stock of accessories, consumables, spare parts, and commonly required items.
Assist other warehouse departments when operationally necessary.
Move, stage, load, and unload equipment as required.
Follow all TAG safety policies and ensure employees within the department do the same.
Perform other duties as assigned based on the needs of the company.

Qualifications

3–5+ years of professional live event video experience required.
2+ years of leadership, supervisory, or management experience preferred.
Strong working knowledge of LED video walls, LED processing, cameras, switching, signal distribution, conversion, and related live event video equipment.
Experience preparing equipment for concerts, corporate events, touring, festivals, or other live productions.
Experience with Brompton, NovaStar, Barco, Panasonic, Blackmagic Design, Ross, or similar professional video systems is a plus.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Experience with rental/inventory management software is preferred.
Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities while meeting strict deadlines.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to communicate effectively with employees, managers, Project Managers, and vendors.
Ability to train, supervise, and hold employees accountable.
Must be dependable and able to work independently.
Must be willing to work additional hours and occasional weekends during peak production periods.
Valid driver's license preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or related education is a plus.

Physical Requirements

This is a hands-on warehouse position and is not solely a desk or administrative management role.

Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, pushing, pulling, and handling of production equipment.
Ability to safely use hand tools and warehouse equipment as required.
Ability to work in an active event-production warehouse environment.

Job Type: Full-time
