Summary/Objective
The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and proposals for construction projects with a focus on federal contracting. This position requires a solid understanding of construction methodologies, scope analyses, and proposal development. The Estimator plays a key role in securing projects by working closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to develop comprehensive and competitive bids that align with government requirements and company standards.
Primary Job Responsibilities

· Analyze drawings, specifications, and project scopes to develop accurate estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and other costs.
· Lead the preparation of proposals for federal construction projects including design-build, IDIQ, and task order contracts.
· Collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and vendors to obtain pricing and ensure accurate scope coverage.
· Identify cost-saving opportunities and assess risk factors to determine the viability of bids.
· Review and interpret federal RFPs, RFQs, and contract documents to ensure full compliance.
· Support preconstruction planning, budgeting, and scheduling efforts.
· Participate in bid meetings, pre-bid site visits, and post-award kickoff meetings as necessary.
· Maintain constant communication with subcontractors.
Other Responsibilities
· Maintain historical cost data and databases for future reference. Assist with contract negotiations and value engineering when necessary.
· Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating tools, templates, and processes.
· Stay informed on current industry trends, federal acquisition regulations, and market conditions.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and estimating software (e.g., RSMeans, Bluebeam, Procore, P6).

· Knowledge of FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulations) and other federal contract requirements.

Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position does not currently have direct supervisory responsibilities but may lead or coordinate with junior estimators or administrative staff on a project-by-project basis.
Work Environment
The work environment will primarily be office-based with occasional visits to construction sites. Site visits may include walking on uneven terrain, exposure to varying weather conditions, and navigating active construction areas.

Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional after hours required to meet proposal deadlines.
TravelTravel may be required up to 20% of the time for site visits, pre-bid meetings, or client engagements. Most travel will be domestic, and project related.
Required Education and Experience
· Minimum of 4 years of experience in construction estimating with a focus on federal contracts.
· Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Demonstrated experience in proposal development and scope analysis.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
· Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
· Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Pay Transparency Statement
The salary range for this position is $71,958- $110,242 a year (MidAtlantic Region). This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range. As a result, starting pay may vary within the posted range.
The Company reserves the right to modify compensation and benefits programs in accordance with applicable laws and business needs.
