Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Russian Medical Interpreter to facilitate clear, accurate, and culturally sensitive communication between healthcare providers and Russian-speaking patients. In this vital role, you will serve as a bridge, ensuring that medical information, patient concerns, and clinical instructions are conveyed precisely and compassionately. Your expertise will support diverse healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, social services, and telehealth environments. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient care while honing your interpretation skills in a dynamic medical context.

Responsibilities

Provide real-time interpretation for medical consultations, examinations, and procedures between healthcare professionals and Russian-speaking patients using both over-the-phone and video remote interpretation platforms.
Translate medical terminology accurately to ensure comprehensive understanding of diagnoses, treatment plans, medication instructions, and clinical documentation.
Uphold professional ethics by maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations and clinical confidentiality policies.
Demonstrate cultural competency by applying clinical cultural standards to foster trust and effective communication across diverse backgrounds.
Assist with translating medical records, social work documentation, child protective services reports, and hospital forms to support seamless care coordination.
Review clinical documentation for accuracy and completeness while adhering to medical translation services standards.
Support cross-cultural communication efforts by understanding and respecting cultural nuances relevant to patient interactions.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations during all interpretation activities, safeguarding patient privacy at all times.
Collaborate with healthcare teams to improve communication strategies that enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Experience

Proven experience as a medical interpreter or translator in healthcare settings such as hospitals or clinics.
Multilingual proficiency in Russian and English; additional language skills like American Sign Language are a plus.
Demonstrated expertise in medical terminology translation and interpretation across various medical specialties.
Familiarity with video remote interpretation (VRI) technology and over-the-phone interpretation (OPI) platforms.
Strong understanding of clinical ethical guidelines, cultural competency standards, and cross-cultural communication principles.
Knowledge of social work procedures related to hospital discharge planning or child protective services is advantageous.
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to convey complex medical information clearly and compassionately.
Ability to review documentation accurately while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA compliance protocols.
