Position Summary:
Join the NYU Meyers Research Team as a Post-Doctoral Associate and contribute to advancing innovative approaches to improve the health and well-being of older adults. This position offers the opportunity to lead and collaborate on projects focused on the development, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based tools in long-term care and community settings, the development and testing of digital health applications, and the analysis of survey and other research data. The role provides opportunities to conduct high-impact research, work within a multidisciplinary research team, and translate research into practical solutions that improve care delivery and support healthy aging.
The Postdoctoral Associate will engage in a range of research projects and activities, primarily focused on:
- The Supporting Staffing Stability and Resident Wellbeing in Nursing Homes project aims to develop a toolkit to help nursing home administrators implement practical, evidence-based strategies that support staffing retention and resident wellbeing. The Post-Doctoral Associate will lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the toolkit alongside a multidisciplinary advisory board of experts familiar with organizational change in long-term care settings.
- The Bridging Research in Aging Equity: Advancing Community-Based Tools and Digital Innovation for Aging Well project aims to develop, test, and implement a digital app that advances health equity and improves outcomes for older adults. The Post-Doctoral Associate will lead the design, development, and iterative refinement of a mobile/web-based health application.
- A NIH funded mixed-methods R01 study examining the effects of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) on staffing patterns and health outcomes among nursing home residents with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD). The Post-Doctoral Associate will support and advise on survey data collection, analyses, and interpretation of findings.
- 10% - Protected time to conduct and disseminate independent research. Mentorship will be provided to foster the scientist's professional growth and further prepare them for a successful research career.
Responsibilities:
- Support day-to-day project administration, including scheduling, IRB communications, and coordinating with collaborators and nursing homes.
- Assist in managing project timelines, deliverables, and compliance with funding requirements.
- Help facilitate team meetings, maintain study documentation, and ensure adherence to research protocols and project deadlines.
- Supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate research assistants
- Apply implementation frameworks like CFIR or RE-AIM to projects.
- Partner and collaborate with advisory boards, nursing home leadership, and community groups to ensure successful implementation of digital tools and evidence-based strategies
- Lead the design, development, and iterative refinement of mobile and web-based health applications.
- Travel, if needed, to nursing homes to pilot and evaluate nursing home toolkit implementation.
- Manage and analyze research data using appropriate statistical software and methodologies.
- Contribute to the writing of conference abstracts and manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications both through lead authorship and co-authorship.
- Present research at scientific conferences and professional meetings.
- Collaborate on the development of external grant proposals.
Position Details:
Approximate Start and End Dates: This is a full-time, fixed-term, grant-funded position expected to run from September 1, 2026 (or when position is filled) through August 31, 2027, based on the availability of continued grant funding and performance.
Appointment Type: Full-time, fixed-term, grant-funded position.
Expected Work Hours: 35 hours per week; The role follows a Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. schedule with some flexibility.
Location: Hybrid. The position requires at least three days of in-person work per week, including field-based research activities and College-designated common in-person days.
Contract and Salary:
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $70,000 (based on years of relevant postgraduate experience and discipline). New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer. This is a full-time fixed-term position for 1 year with potential for renewal based on performance and continued grant funding.
- A Ph.D. in public health or equivalent doctoral degree in nursing, behavioral science, computer science, software engineering, information science, or a related field by the start date.
- Strong quantitative or implementation science background in research methodology, including study design, data collection, and statistical analysis
- Knowledge of human or user-centered design principles and usability testing.
- Experience developing a digital tool or new application.
- Experience analyzing quantitative data using statistical software packages such as R, STATA, SPSS or SAS.
- Proficiency in modern programming languages (e.g., Swift, Kotlin, Dart, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python).
- A background in aging, gerontology, older adults, long-term care, post-acute care, or community-based aging services is strongly preferred.
- Excellent scientific writing and oral communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to prepare manuscripts and present research findings clearly and concisely.
- A track record of scholarly productivity, including publications in peer-reviewed journals and conference presentations.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to work effectively within a research team.
