Job Description:

Responsible for planning and conducting interesting large/small group programs that meet the needs for the adult, geriatric and dementia population (social, emotional, spiritual, physical and cognitive) as well as age-specific
Will utilize the latest techniques and methodologies in programming and assist in contributing idea’s to program calendar
Facilitate independent activities for residents as needed
Monitor inventory of supplies needed to carry out programs
Transport residents to and from activities daily
Documentation of program attendance and participation
Complete Therapeutic Recreation assessments upon admission for STC/LTC residents
Create resident specific care plan goals and interventions and re-evaluates as needed
Document assessments, care plans and MDS daily for assigned unit(s)
Assist in training of all staff, supervise volunteers
Attend and participate in weekly team care plan meetings
Encourage residents to attend programs regularly to improve their quality of life
Assist in planning special events and accompany residents on community outings
Any other responsibilities as assigned by Activities Director

Specific Requirements:

Must possess the ability to make independent decisions and think outside the box
Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors and the general public
Must possess leadership ability, maturity, compassion and willingness to work harmoniously with staff
Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm and the ability to handle difficult residents

Qualifications/Educational requirements:

BS in Therapeutic Recreation or a Related field (Art/Music Therapy)
Experience in a “Therapeutic Recreation” setting
CTRS certification a plus
Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in STC/LTC setting with the geriatric population preferred
Knowledge and experience with documentation (MDS, Sigma Care) a plus

Schedule:

Full Time
Flexibility on evenings, weekends and holidays

Pay: From $21.00 per hour
