Full Job Description

We are hiring a Business Analyst for our client, a large public-sector healthcare and human services organization, to support the modernization and enhancement of critical case management and healthcare applications. This role will focus on documenting existing workflows, gathering business and functional requirements, and supporting large-scale IT system initiatives that directly impact community-based services and quality oversight.
This position offers the opportunity to work on high-visibility projects that improve operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and service delivery for vulnerable populations.

SUMMARY:
The Business Analyst will play a key role in large-scale application modernization efforts, working closely with project managers, technical teams, and business stakeholders. The analyst will be responsible for requirements gathering, process mapping, system analysis, and supporting testing and deployment activities.

This role is based in downtown Boston and follows a hybrid work schedule (Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM). Occasional travel to regional offices may be required. Candidates must be local to commute to Boston.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participate in design and prototyping sessions for new systems or major enhancements to improve business processes, operations, and information flow.
Prepare gap analyses, analyze requirements, construct workflow charts and diagrams, study system capabilities, and write technical specifications.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define and document business and functional requirements.
Serve as a liaison between business users and the IT team to elicit and document project requirements, use cases/user stories, and other technical documentation.
Identify risks and potential scope creep; escalate issues to the project team as needed.
Participate in the preparation and execution of testing plans, including integration, regression, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
Ensure testing validates the quality, reliability, and completeness of deployed business services.
Prepare or oversee implementation plans, user training guides, and other documentation.
Support vendor evaluations by preparing documentation and helping assess potential platforms against documented requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum 4 years of experience in IT environments, with at least 3 years of direct business analysis experience on large-scale IT system development projects.
Proven experience conducting requirements-gathering sessions with business teams.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and meet urgent program or production needs.
Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with team members, management, and stakeholders at all levels.
Self-motivated and capable of thriving in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Proficiency with MS Office tools (including MS Project).
High degree of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information.
Understanding of Agile methodology and the full software development life cycle (SDLC).

PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

Experience with Azure DevOps, Azure Active Directory integration, relational databases, or data modeling.
Prior experience in government, human services, or healthcare settings.

Pay $50 - $53.60 / hour W2
