Job Summary

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of the Practice Manager and Service Director, performs duties of technical assistance/administrative support. Duties include patient testing, contact lens insertion and removal training; as well as assisting with various administrative duties within the Optometry Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Performs contact lens instruction, including insertion and removal training on patients
Performs Administrative functions, covering front desk, checking in patients, etc.
Sets up and cleans examination and test rooms according to infection control standards
Insures that equipment is working properly and notifies appropriate personnel when a problem is identified
Performs auto-refraction and topography testing
Maintains adequate supplies of medical/ophthalmic supplies in exam rooms
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate to the age of the patients served in the service
Sterilization of soft and hard contact lenses in accordance with the infection control standards
Complies with all state, federal and local regulations and laws governing the performance of this

position within this department.

Adheres to all policies and procedures, including confidentiality of patient and employee information, and attends annual in-service education.
Maintain patient confidentiality at all times, by phone, in discussion and by electronic distribution of information.
Perform other projects as assigned by Manager or physicians.
Adheres to MEE Standards of Behavior.

Qualifications

Education High School Diploma or Equivalent required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials Experience Optometry/Ophthalmology Experience 1-2 years preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Proficiency in performing various eye-related tests and using diagnostic equipment. - Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems is desirable. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with patients and colleagues. - Strong customer service skills to provide a welcoming and compassionate environment for patients. - Keen attention to detail when recording patient information, performing tests, and assisting with procedures. - Willingness to work collaboratively in a team-based healthcare setting.
