Maintenance Plasterer/Mason
General Description
The person in this position performs skilled maintenance involving the installation, repair, and finishing of brick, tile, stone, plaster, lathing, and concrete on interior and exterior portions of buildings, apartments, and related facilities.
The Maintenance Plasterer/Mason must have completed a recognized apprenticeship program or possess a trade school diploma with prior experience as a tender or journeyman in the plastering and/or masonry trades.
This position is a union position. The selected candidate is required to join and remain in good standing with the appropriate trade union as a condition of employment, including compliance with all union rules, dues, training, and collective bargaining agreement requirements.
Employees in this position are subject to random drug and alcohol screening in accordance with employer policy and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
Supervision
The Maintenance Plasterer/Mason works under broad supervision in connection with assigned tasks. Supervision is exercised with respect to work completion, cost efficiency, and timeliness of repairs.
This position may provide direction to laborers performing non-technical tasks.
Duties
· Demonstrates thorough knowledge of plastering and masonry trade practices and materials.
· Performs alterations and repairs on surfaces and structures constructed of brick, block, stone, concrete, tile, and similar materials.
· Inspects assigned work to determine the extent of damage and identifies necessary repairs.
· Repairs damaged masonry structures such as walls, steps, brickwork, and concrete surfaces.
· Executes work assignments by interpreting sketches, plans, and blueprints.
· Maintains compliance with all applicable safety regulations and union work rules.
· Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Extensive knowledge of plastering and masonry trade practices.
· Knowledge of materials used in masonry and plastering trades.
· Skill in installing and repairing lath and plaster systems.
· Skill in finish plastering, ceramic tile work, brickwork, and concrete work.
· Ability to perform tasks independently.
· Proficiency in tools and equipment.
· Ability to interpret plans and blueprints.
· Knowledge of brick, block, and stonework techniques.
· Ability to work in accordance with union standards.
Minimum Requirements
· Completion of apprenticeship or trade school with experience
· Journeyman-level experience
· Must be eligible for and maintain union membership
· Valid driver’s license (if required)
· Must comply with random drug and alcohol testing policies
Working Conditions
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, noise, and physically demanding activities.
This is a Full Time position and reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and the Executive Director.
Salary is $113,068.80
Pay: $113,068.80 per year
