Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Location: Kenosha, WI
Department: Nuclear Medicine
Type: Travel Contract
Schedule: Full-Time

Weekend Rotation: Call Only (Every 4th Weekend)
On-Call: Yes

About the Role

MedOp Solutions is seeking an experienced Nuclear Medicine Technologist for a travel assignment. This position offers the opportunity to work in a busy Nuclear Medicine department serving inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department populations while performing a broad range of diagnostic imaging procedures.

The ideal candidate is proficient in general nuclear medicine studies, SPECT/CT imaging, IV starts, and has experience working with cardiac, oncology, pulmonary, and gastrointestinal patient populations. During the second half of the assignment, the technologist will rotate with staff to perform PET imaging at the affiliated Cancer Center.

Collaborative imaging and multidisciplinary care teams

Department Information

The Nuclear Medicine Department provides advanced diagnostic imaging services for a wide range of medical specialties.

Typical Studies Include

Cardiac Nuclear Medicine
Gastrointestinal imaging
Pulmonary imaging
Oncology studies
PET scans
DAT scans
General Nuclear Medicine procedures
SPECT/CT imaging

Patient Population

Care for a diverse patient population including:

Inpatients
Outpatients
Emergency Department patients
Cardiology patients
Oncology patients
Pulmonary patients
Gastroenterology patients
Neurology patients requiring DAT imaging

Department Volume

General Nuclear Medicine: 2–3 technologists per day
Daily Volume: Approximately 7–18 patients
PET Department: 1 technologist per day
Approximately 5 PET patients daily with an independent workflow

Key Responsibilities

Perform diagnostic Nuclear Medicine imaging procedures
Administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and accurately
Start peripheral IVs for imaging studies
Operate SPECT/CT and PET imaging equipment
Produce high-quality diagnostic images while maintaining patient safety
Educate patients regarding imaging procedures
Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record
Collaborate with physicians, radiologists, oncology teams, and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals
Participate in the PET rotation at the Cancer Center during the second half of the assignment

Qualifications

Required

Minimum 2 years of recent Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience
NMTCB Certification
Current BLS Certification
Strong knowledge of Nuclear Medicine principles and practices
Experience with:
- Cardiac imaging
- GI imaging
- Pulmonary imaging
- Oncology studies
- PET imaging
- SPECT/CT
- IV starts
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred

EPIC experience
GE imaging equipment experience (GE 850 preferred)
McKesson PACS experience
Nuc Trak experience
First-time travelers welcome

Support on the Unit

You'll work alongside an experienced imaging team including:

Department Supervisor
Nuclear Medicine Technologists
Radiologists
Oncology and Cardiology providers
Multidisciplinary healthcare professionals

Orientation

12 hours of department orientation
Focused on workflow, equipment, and department processes

Scheduling & Expectations

Full-time assignment
Day shift schedule (facility assigned)
On-Call Requirements:
- One weekday call shift each week from end of shift until 6:00 AM the following morning
- One weekend of call every fourth weekend, beginning Friday at the end of shift through Monday at 6:00 AM
Holiday call only, with the possibility of one holiday call assignment during the contract
During the second half of the assignment, technologists will rotate to the Cancer Center (approximately one mile away) to perform PET scans
All requested time off must be approved by the department manager
