Full Job Description

About the Role

Raleigh Concrete LLC is seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager to lead and oversee all quality assurance and quality control processes within our ready-mix concrete operations. This role is critical in ensuring that our concrete products consistently meet project specifications, industry standards, and customer expectations.

The ideal candidate bring strong technical knowledge of concrete materials, testing, and mix design--along with the leadership skills to support plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

Quality & Technical Oversight

Lead all quality control activities for ready-mix concrete production
Ensure compliance with ASTM, ACI, DOT, and project specifications
Review and approve mix designs based on performance, cost, and material availability
Monitor concrete performance, including slump, air, temperature, and strength results

Testing & Compliance

Oversee laboratory and field testing of concrete and raw materials
Ensure proper sampling, testing procedures, and documentation
Investigate out-of-spec results and implement corrective and preventative actions
Maintain calibration and certification of testing equipment

Operations Support

Partner with plant managers, dispatch, and operations teams to ensure consistent product quality
Support troubleshooting of field issues and jobsite performance concerns
Assist in optimizing mix designs for efficiency, workability, and durability

Team Development

Provide training on testing procedures, safety, and quality standards
Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement

Customer & Project Support

Collaborate with customers and contractors to ensure satisfaction
Participate in pre-construction and project meetings
Provide technical guidance on concrete applications and performance

Work Conditions

Combination of office, laboratory, and outdoor plant environments
Regular travel between plant locations and jobsites to support testing, quality control, and operational needs
May require early mornings, weekends, or extended hours based on production demands

Starting salary $85,000.00 (based on experience)

Qualifications

Experience

5+ years of experience in ready-mix concrete, construction materials, or related field

Technical Expertise

Strong knowledge of concrete materials, batching, and mix design
Familiarity with ASTM, ACI, and DOT standards
Experience with concrete testing methods and quality assurance practices

Certifications (Preferred)

Concrete Field Testing Technician
Concrete Strength Testing Technician
Concrete Mix Design Technician
Concrete Batching Technician
QC/QA Testing Technician
QC/QA Sampling Technician

Skills

Strong problem-solving and analytical ability
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and QC reporting systems
