Full Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Intra Op & PACU Nurse RN to join our dynamic perioperative team. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures within the operating room (OR) and post-anesthesia care unit (PACU). Your expertise will ensure patient safety, comfort, and optimal recovery through comprehensive assessments, precise monitoring, and effective collaboration with surgical teams. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment that values innovation, teamwork, and compassionate patient care.

Required Qualifications

Active, unencumbered RN license in North Carolina
Current BLS certification
Current ACLS certification
Minimum 2 years of experience in perioperative, OR, PACU nursing, or Critical Care nursing (preferred)
Proficiency with IV insertion and venous access

Responsibilities

Prepare patients for surgery by reviewing medical histories, verifying consent, and ensuring proper documentation.
Monitor vital signs, oxygen levels, and anesthesia effects during intraoperative procedures, using strong physiological assessment skills and aseptic technique
Perform wound care and maintain strict infection control standards
Manage postoperative recovery in the PACU by assessing patient status, managing acute pain, and providing tailored interventions for safe discharge or transfer.
Collaborate closely with the providers to coordinate patient care plans during intraoperative and post-anesthesia phases.
Document all patient interactions accurately in medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations and standards.
Respond swiftly to emergent situations such as airway management demonstrating proficiency in emergency medicine protocols.
Conduct post-discharge follow-up calls to assess patient recovery and address concerns

Skills

Preferred experience working within the intraoperative setting and PACU environment with a strong understanding of aseptic technique.
Proficient with EMR and standard clinical technology
Ability to perform complex patient assessments including vital signs monitoring, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations.
Knowledge of infection control practices and sterile processing protocols essential for maintaining a safe operating environment.
Strong communication skills for effective triage, discharge planning, case management, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
