Job Overview
We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Membership Engagement Manager to lead our efforts in cultivating a vibrant, connected membership community. This paid role offers an exciting opportunity to develop and implement innovative engagement strategies, manage volunteer programs, and foster meaningful relationships with diverse legal professionals and community members. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a passion for community building to drive our membership initiatives forward.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Membership Engagement Manager plays a key role in supporting the growth, engagement, and retention of the North Carolina Bar Association’s (NCBA) membership. This position is responsible for planning and executing member-focused programs, events, and initiatives that foster meaningful connections, deliver professional development opportunities, and enhance the overall member experience.

Working collaboratively across departments, the Membership Engagement Manager helps develop strategies that strengthen member engagement, supports recruitment and retention efforts, and serves as a resource for members regarding membership programs and benefits.

EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS:

· Bachelor’s degree is required.

Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.

· Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, Adobe Acrobat Professional, and Salesforce or other AMS/LMS tools.

Ability to build positive relationships with members, vendors, and colleagues.

· Familiarity with the legal profession is preferred, but not required.

JOB DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist the Director of Membership in developing, implementing, and evaluating membership recruitment, engagement, and retention initiatives.

· Plan, coordinate, and attend in-person and virtual membership events, networking opportunities, and other member-focused programming.

Manage event logistics, including venue and vendor coordination, contract negotiations, registration, budgets, and onsite event support.
Speak and present at internal and external events and meetings as necessary.
Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement promotional strategies for membership programs, events, and initiatives.
Provide exceptional service to members by serving as a point of contact for membership programs, events, and related inquiries.
Maintain accurate event information within the Association Management System (AMS) and develop proficiency in NCBA technology platforms.
Assist with tracking membership engagement metrics as needed.
Maintain collaborative relationships across the NCBA and North Carolina Bar Foundation (NCBF), contributing to overall organizational goals and mission.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position operates in a professional office environment with a combination of desk work, meetings, and event-related responsibilities. Periodic evening and occasional weekend work required to support member events and programs.

Occasional travel (mostly within North Carolina) is required to staff events and meetings, using the employee’s personal vehicle (subject to authorized reimbursement).
