Full Job Description

Community Partnerships, Inc. (CPI) is dedicated to building inclusive communities that embrace the inherent potential of every individual. CPI provides direct services to children and adults with developmental disabilities, adults with mental illnesses and/or addiction issues, and adults with brain injuries. The CPI team is made up of experienced therapists, job coaches, case managers, and other professionals.

CPI is currently recruiting for a dedicated Employment Consultant for our Project SEARCH program in Raleigh, NC. The Job Coach supports the mission of Community Partnerships, Inc. by providing individualized, person-centered services to individuals with brain injuries that enable them to find and maintain long-term, competitively-paid employment.

The Employment Consultant will work with high school students with I/DD to help them find and maintain long-term, competitively paid employment.

KEY RESPSONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

1. In coordination with Project SEARCH partners and the students, develop, implement, and monitor the task analysis and Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE) for each intern in order to meet their vocational needs, as appropriate.

2. Coordinate with project partners to provide internships for students.

· In collaboration with project partners, identify and develop internship positions and roles within the host business.

· Identify and develop accommodations and/or assistive technology to improve and intern’s job performance.

· Identify and foster natural supports during internship rotations.

· Provide on-the-job training and shadowing to assist interns in learning job duties and performing required tasks.

· Coordinate with project partners to provide instruction to interns according to Project SEARCH curriculum.

· Provide support to ensure that interns successfully transition to new internship rotations and positions within the host company.

3. Perform job development activities.

· Assist and enable students to attain long-term, competitively paid employment in accordance with their vocational goals.

· Instruct students in basic job seeking skills, such as interviewing, resume development, and networking as appropriate.

· Assist interns with job application and interview process.

· Accompany students to job interviews as needed.

4. Assist and enable students to maintain long-term, competitively paid employment by ensuring they have a successful transition and integration into the workforce once employment has been obtained.

· Provide vocational training on job/task performance (using coaching and one-on-one instruction, etc.) in order that the student is able to reach and maintain the employer’s required level of proficiency.

· Provide follow-up support and monitor work performance/progress through regular contacts with the employer and students during the initial 90 days of a student’s employment.

· Provide technical assistance to employers, including consultation and education.

5. Document program activities as required.

· Complete logs and progress notes associated with interns’ activity for each service contact provided.

· Complete all required forms and information required for a interns’ eligibility for services (including enrollments, authorizations, transfers, and discharges).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology, or related field preferred. High school diploma required.

Experience: Minimum of two (2) years accumulated experience with the population served. Vocational training, job development, and other human resources experience strongly preferred. Experience in Crisis Management required.

License/Certification: Current CPR and First Aid certification required.

Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of community resources is required, as well as knowledge of specific aspects of service provision and population served that would be necessary to perform the technical functions of the position.

Other: Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office software. Transportation and the ability to transport interns is required to meet the requirements of this position.
