POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Property Care Host, you help preserve the beauty, comfort, and functionality of The Gables. Through preventative maintenance, thoughtful repairs, and careful attention to detail, you ensure every space is safe, welcoming, and ready to create memorable guest experiences. More than maintaining a building, you help care for a place where people come to celebrate, reconnect, rest, and create lasting memories. Every repair, every project, and every detail contributes to the experience we create together.
At The Gables, every team member plays an important role in the guest experience. Because we are a small team, this position requires flexibility, ownership, and a willingness to support the property wherever needed.
You help preserve the character, craftsmanship, and design of The Gables by completing repairs and improvements that are thoughtful, well-executed, and consistent with the property's aesthetic. The best maintenance work is often invisible to guests—but it makes every memorable stay possible.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Caring for the Property

Conduct daily property walks to identify maintenance concerns, safety hazards, lighting issues, landscaping needs, and opportunities to improve the guest experience.

Maintain preventative maintenance schedules and documentation to help preserve the long-term quality and functionality of the property.

Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, drywall, painting, and general maintenance issues within skill level.

Coordinate with outside vendors when specialized repairs are required, communicating status and pricing with management before work is approved.

Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and teammates throughout property.

Complete repairs with quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Perform preventative inspections to identify maintenance needs before they impact the guest experience.

Maintain an organized inventory of maintenance tools, equipment, and repair materials, communicating supply needs proactively.

Maintain detailed maintenance logs and complete work orders accurately and in a timely manner.

Monitor public spaces throughout the day, proactively addressing maintenance concerns and ensuring they remain safe, functional, clean, and welcoming.

Assist with moving furniture, equipment, and fixtures to support maintenance projects, room refreshes, seasonal décor, and special events.

Maintain compliance with safety standards and promptly address conditions that may impact the safety of guests, teammates, or the property.

Assist in responding to building emergencies, utility outages, severe weather, or other unexpected situations to help protect guests, teammates, and the property.
Caring for the Grounds

Maintain beautiful, welcoming outdoor spaces including landscaping, walkways, patios, lighting, and seasonal décor.

Remove debris and ensure entrances and exterior spaces remain clean and inviting.

Assist with snow, ice, or storm response when necessary.
Caring for the Guest Experience

Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of mechanical rooms, maintenance workspaces, storage areas, and exterior facilities.

Assist with public area presentation, window cleaning, pressure washing, furniture touch-ups, and seasonal projects.

Support housekeeping with deep cleaning or room refresh projects when needed.
-
Help maintain the overall appearance of the property so every space reflects The Gables' standards.

Promptly report lost-and-found items, maintenance concerns, safety hazards, and property damage according to The Gables' procedures.

Greet guests warmly when working in public spaces and complete maintenance work with minimal disruption to the guest experience.

When entering occupied guest rooms, communicate professionally, respect guest privacy, and complete work efficiently.

Take ownership of preserving the beauty, functionality, and character of The Gables, understanding that every repair contributes to the experience our guests remember.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Must be eligible to work in the United States.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience & Skills
-
Previous maintenance, facilities, construction, landscaping, or skilled trade experience preferred.

General knowledge of plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and mechanical systems.

Comfortable using hand and power tools safely.
-
Ability to diagnose problems, prioritize repairs, and communicate recommended solutions clearly.

Ability to prioritize multiple projects independently.
-
Valid driver's license required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Ability to climb ladders and work at varying heights.

Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.

Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, and standing for extended periods.

Maintains a polished, professional appearance consistent with The Gables’ hospitality standards.
