Job Overview
Join our compassionate team as a Personal Care Assistant and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals requiring support with daily activities and personal well-being. In this vital role, you will provide personalized care, assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), and promote independence in a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment. Your dedication will help enhance quality of life for residents across various care settings, including assisted living, nursing homes, group homes, and home health environments. This paid position offers an opportunity to grow your caregiving skills while working with diverse populations, including seniors, individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, or memory care needs.

What you’ll do

Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
Monitor patient vital signs and observe changes in health or behavior to report to healthcare professionals promptly
Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist residents during meal times to ensure proper nutrition and hydration
Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans established by healthcare providers
Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning patient areas and laundry
Document patient observations accurately in compliance with privacy regulations like HIPAA
Provide emotional support and companionship to promote mental well-being and social engagement

Responsibilities

Deliver direct support to residents by assisting with mobility, transfers, and positioning using appropriate equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident’s <PERSON> (personal equipment)
Observe and record changes in residents’ condition or behavior related to dementia, Alzheimer’s, or other cognitive impairments for ongoing care planning
Follow established care plans meticulously to ensure consistent quality of care tailored to each individual’s needs
Assist with light housekeeping duties including cleaning rooms, changing linens, and maintaining a hygienic environment
Support residents during outings or community activities to foster social interaction and community engagement
Adhere strictly to safety protocols including CPR/First Aid certification requirements and emergency procedures for hospice or home health situations
Collaborate effectively with healthcare teams, social workers, family members, and other caregivers to coordinate comprehensive care

Requirements

Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, group homes or home & community care environments preferred
Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to monitor vital signs accurately
Certification in CPR/First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are advantageous
Experience assisting with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) including bathing, dressing, grooming, meal preparation, and medication management
Ability to lift heavy objects safely when assisting residents with mobility or transfers using Hoyer lifts or similar equipment
Strong communication skills coupled with a compassionate attitude towards individuals with disabilities or cognitive impairments such as dementia or autism spectrum disorder
Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings or weekends as needed for resident care needs
