JOB SUMMARY
The Hospice Manager of Support Services is responsible for the oversight and day to day management of the support services team. The support services team includes: Social Work, Chaplains, Bereavement Coordinators, Volunteer Coordinators, Music Therapist and any supportive services added in the future. The Manager of Hospice Supportive Services will be responsible for participation in the hiring, orientation, training, education and evaluation of support services staff on an ongoing basis. The position will also require the oversight of all program services and will require participation in community outreach with the support services team members as needed.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the Hospice Executive Clinical Director, supervises and manages the day-to-day activities of the Social Workers, Chaplains, Volunteer Coordinators, Bereavement Coordinators and Music Therapist.
- Coordinates the support services staff schedules including vacation/holiday requests and after hour on-call rotations.
- Functions as a resource to support services staff for clinical and non-clinical problem solving.
- Provides employee feedback as needed and performs probationary and annual performance appraisals for all support services team members.
- Participates in the development of policy and guideline updates as needed for support team services.
- Facilitates and participates in orientation of new support services hires.
- Communicates regularly with the clinical Executive Director to provide updates on status of projects or issues and other necessary feedback.
- Evaluates patient flow and provides intervention to facilitate patient care in an optimal timeline.
- Anticipates problems and obstacles in care coordination and applies appropriate problem-solving skills to prevent or reduce delay in patient care needs.
- Provides leadership and continuity of care guidance and support for all support service team members.
- In conjunction with the interdisciplinary team supervises progress and recommends appropriate clinical interventions to the support services team.
- Resolution of patient, family and referral source concerns in a timely manner required.
- Frequent communication with referral sources, patients and families is required including education and customer service visits.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

· Ability to respond appropriately to crisis situations.
· Ability to provide leadership and direction to the support services team social work, spiritual care, bereavement, music therapy and volunteer teams.
REQUIREMENTS
- Master’s degree required from an accredited school of social work, spiritual care or related background. Bachelor’s degree considered with increased level of experience.
- Two years of hospice management/supervisory experience required.
- Occasional overnight travel required
