POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Planner is responsible for planning and scheduling manufacturing operations to ensure efficient production, appropriate inventory levels, and on-time customer delivery. This position develops production schedules, plans material requirements, manages inventory, and coordinates purchasing activities to support manufacturing operations. Working closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Customer Service, and Finance, the Production Planner helps improve production efficiency, inventory accuracy, and operational performance while supporting BrightView Technologies' manufacturing objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Production Planning, Scheduling & Purchasing
- o Develop and maintain production schedules to meet customer demand while maximizing manufacturing efficiency and resource utilization.
- o Maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and support Material Requirements Planning (MRP) activities.
- o Plan raw material requirements and maintain appropriate inventory levels using reorder points, Kanban, safety stock, and other inventory management tools.
- o Create and manage purchase orders to support production schedules and inventory requirements.
- o Monitor daily production performance and adjust schedules as needed to accommodate changing priorities, expedited orders, equipment downtime, and engineering trials.
- o Coordinate with Operations, Supply Chain, and Customer Service to resolve material shortages and maintain on-time customer deliveries.
- o Communicate production schedules, lead times, and changes to internal stakeholders.
Inventory Management
- Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels to support production while minimizing excess inventory.
- Maintain accurate production, inventory, and planning data within the ERP system.
- Coordinate physical inventory counts and reconcile month-end inventory balances.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy.
- Review perpetual inventory records and support accurate financial reporting.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve planning, scheduling, purchasing, and inventory management processes.
- Support Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist in implementing new planning tools and technologies, including AI-enabled planning capabilities, to improve scheduling efficiency and decision-making.
- Track production and inventory metrics and recommend improvements based on performance results.
- Support new product introductions by coordinating production planning and scheduling activities.
Collaboration
- Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Sales, Finance, Customer Service, and Information Systems to meet production and customer requirements.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to improve manufacturing processes and operational performance.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support manufacturing operations and company objectives.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, operations management, materials management, industrial engineering, or a related field required.
- 3–5 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, supply chain, materials management, or a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems, inventory management, purchasing, and production scheduling.
- APICS/ISM certifications preferred.
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing, six sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILS, & ABILITITIES
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft office suite, particularly excel, and the ability to quickly learn ERP/MRP systems, including NetSuite.
- Experience with production planning and scheduling software; familiarity with ai-enabled planning tools is a plus.
- Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across operations, supply chain, engineering, customer service, finance, and other functional teams.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
