Description of Work
The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the sorting and distribution of mail and office supplies and to assist in the processing of outgoing mail.

Mail Processing. This position daily assists the Mailroom Supervisor with the processing large quantities letters of correspondence to and from the divisions of the Agency.
For outbound mail, the incumbent will operate both a high-speed mail inserter as well as a postage meter. Incumbent will load documents and envelopes into the inserter and monitor the inserter for jams, breakdowns as well as accuracy. The incumbent will also operate a postage meter using the correct rates and follow all US Postal Service policies. Incumbent will be trained on operation of equipment if necessary.
For inbound mail, the incumbent will sort and deliver mail as assigned. Incumbent will document accountable items using a barcode scanner that will be assigned to them. Incumbent will be trained on operation of handheld scanner.
5% Vehicle operation. This position requires the operation of a state owned (or leased) automobile. The incumbent MUST have and maintain a valid driver’s license in the state of their residence. Typical trips include trips to local post offices in the Raleigh Metro area.
5% Supply distribution. Distribution of supplies throughout the building. This includes cases of paper, envelopes, office supplies, etc. with the use of non-power equipment such as hand trucks, dollies and push carts.
10% Backup to any personnel in the mailroom operation during absence, illness, etc. Training and associated duties.
Salary Range - $31,200.00-$51,249.00
Position is Subject to FLSA Overtime

The minimum Education and Experience is a high school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
