Full Job Description

A recovery-room role on a calm, well-run outpatient team. Our AAAASF-accredited outpatient surgery center in Cary is hiring a recovery (PACU) nurse to support our visiting bariatric and GI surgery program (sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, and similar minimally invasive weight-loss procedures). These higher-acuity weight-loss patients need attentive, skilled post-operative management before discharge, and that is the heart of this role.

You would:

Recover patients from moderate sedation and general anesthesia: monitor airway, hemodynamic stability, pain, nausea, and surgical sites
Provide the closer post-operative monitoring and management higher-acuity weight-loss patients require before a safe discharge
Complete pre-op admission, IV access, and patient preparation as assigned
Chart accurately and on time in our surgical system (SIS) and EMR (PatientNow), to AAAASF standards

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive pre-operative admission for surgery patients
Initiate IV access, administer medications, and ensure proper patient preparation
Monitor patients during recovery from moderate sedation or general anesthesia
Assess airway, hemodynamic stability, pain, nausea, and surgical sites
Document patient care accurately in compliance with AAAASF standards
Assist with room turnover and timely case starts

Qualifications:

Active RN license in the state of North Carolina
1 to 2 years of PACU / post-anesthesia recovery experience (surgery-center or bariatric experience a plus)
Current BLS and ACLS required
Strong command of post-anesthesia recovery, airway monitoring, and patient assessments
Strong assessment, critical-thinking, and patient education skills
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
