Our home is a well-oiled machine in need of one more gear. | Raleigh | Near North Hills | Full-Time + OT Family Assistant/Housekeeper | August 17 | $25-$35/hr
Description:
- To say that we’re busy people would be a bit of an understatement. Between our four children, our bustling work lives, and all of the travel that comes with all of those responsibilities, we need an extra set of hands that can navigate our home with mastery, resilience, and calm. We’ll be gone from the end of May until the middle of August – we told you, we’re busy! – so while your official start won’t be until August 17, we would love to have you here for some training days with Mom before we leave for the summer.
- With as much as we’ll have for you to, we’ll need you to get an early start on the day. We’ll guarantee you 48.5 hours per week for now, but that may shift in the fall when our littlest one is off to school. Until then, we’ll plan for you to work 7:30a-5:30p on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays and 7:00a-5:00p on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. If our live-in nanny is unavailable, there may be some days we need you a little earlier but we’ll communicate that well in advance. Starting in August, our littlest one will be in school and we’ll plan to revisit the schedule then to accommodate for the new needs of a house with all school-aged children for the first time ever for us!
- We live our lives by the three Fs: faith, family, and friends. As a family, we enjoy adventures, traveling, and having fun together. We also lead a very active and busy lifestyle, with a mix of sports, outings, events, work, school, and travel. It isn’t just Mom, Dad, and the kids here either! We have a live-in nanny and Mom has an assistant who supports her at work and at home. Our current housekeeper is moving away at the end of May and no pressure, but you’ll have some big shoes to fill! Our home is highly organized, efficient, and well-staffed. You won’t just be joining a household, you’ll be joining a team of experienced professionals.
- Our kids’ schedules are as packed as ours, so you’ll probably be spending more time without them than with them. Still, they’ll be supporting characters in your daily adventures with us so let’s meet the rest of the cast! Our twelve-year-old daughter is studious and sporty. She leaves for school in the morning, heads off to maintain her straight-A average, leaves midday for tennis practice, then heads back to school, and isn’t back until 7:30p most days. Our weekends are filled with practices and tournaments as she heads down the path for Wimbledon! Our ten-year-old son is preparing himself to follow his big sister’s academic example when he heads off to middle school next year, but he may still need some help with pacing. He cycles through sports all year and goes to Boy Scouts once a week. He is loving, friendly, energetic, and great at connecting with people. Our seven-year-old daughter is our party animal! Her social and sports schedule keeps her out until 6:30p most evenings. She is our most strong-willed child and we have had to learn how to communicate with her in a way that best suits her brain. Last but most certainly not least, our three-year-old son is extremely smart and extremely verbal. In typical toddler fashion, that verbalness often includes potty talk, but speech is speech! All four of the kids are happy, positive people headed for wonderfully bright futures.
- Mom’s assistant will send you a detailed weekly schedule with tasks, assignees, and progress checkboxes. Daily tasks will vary with each season of our lives, but in general, you should expect to arrive in the morning, clean up after breakfast, and get our three-year-old ready for the day. You’ll take him to school, come home, and tackle laundry for the little guy and for us. After the morning routine, you’ll handle meals including making a list, shopping for groceries, and doing the actual cooking. One of our kids has some special dietary restrictions you’ll need to be mindful of. In the afternoons, you’ll help our live-in nanny with shuffling the kids to and from school and activities. Two afternoons a week, she is off-duty and you’ll be in charge! In seasons of traveling for Mom and Dad, you’ll unpack and reorganize our luggage. When we’re preparing for company, you might polish silver or iron cocktail napkins. Whenever something needs doing, our whole household will depend on you jumping in to help. We’ll need you to flex between childcare, chauffeuring, housekeeping, cooking, and family assistance with ease.
- Teamwork truly makes the dream work in our home. You’ll need to be communicative with your new household teammates, unflappable amidst surprises and conflict, and proactive with your free time. Our home and our family only function to the standard they do because everyone plays their part. Mom runs a tight ship! You’re right for this role if you see the high bar as a goal to confidently strive toward, not one to shrink away from. We’re experts on what works well in our home and we’ll have written guides to help you learn our way of doing things. You’ll need to be active and proactive to keep up with us; the goal is for Mom to never have to ask you to do or redo anything whether Mom and Dad are home or not. The people who work most successfully with us are what we like to call “hundred percenters:” whether it’s taking out the trash, helping the kids study, making the beds, or cooking dinner, we work best with people who do their best work with every task every time. We find that the kind of confidence and expertise we are looking for comes with experience. If household management is your calling, we would love to hear from you!
- You’ll need your own car as a backup, but we’ll have a Yukon XL for you to drive most of the time. Sometimes, the older kids will need to be in one place and the little ones in another, or our oldest will need to be at a match earlier than the rest of us. In those cases, between you and our other staff members, only one of you will be able to drive the family car and everyone else will need to use their own. We’ll reimburse you for mileage when you’re using your own vehicle.
- We aren’t requiring any vaccines, but we really need you to tell us if you’re ever feeling symptomatic. Our household runs like clockwork and that depends on us all working together to keep everyone safe and healthy.
- It’s a full house over here - in addition to the kids and the staff, we also have two pets! Our chocolate lab is an outside dog, so she won’t be underfoot too much. Our cat is newer and she is an inside-outside pet combo deal.
- We’re offering $25-$35/hr, PTO, guaranteed hours with built-in overtime, a family car to drive AND mileage reimbursement when you’re using your own, and the chance to add some grease to the well-oiled machine of our household.
