We are currently seeking a Director of Staff Development (RN) to lead our training and education programs and ensure our clinical team delivers the highest standard of care to our residents.

Responsibilities

Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position. However, this does not imply these are the only duties required.

Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate the facility’s staff development and education programs in accordance with federal and state regulations
Lead new hire orientation, onboarding, and ongoing competency validation for CNAs, LVNs, and RNs
Ensure compliance with CMS, CDPH, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations through structured training and education
Develop and conduct in-service trainings on key SNF topics, including:
Infection prevention and control
Fall prevention and patient safety
Skin integrity and wound care
Dementia care and behavior management
Documentation accuracy and regulatory compliance
Collaborate with the Director of Nursing (DON) and interdisciplinary team to identify training needs and implement performance improvement plans
Maintain accurate records of all trainings, certifications, and competencies for audit and survey readiness
Assist in survey preparation, including staff education, mock surveys, and plan of correction implementation
Monitor staff performance and provide coaching, mentoring, and corrective training as needed
Support and/or lead the facility’s Infection Prevention & Control Program (IP certification preferred or willingness to obtain)
Participate in Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives and contribute to facility-wide quality outcomes
Stay current on changes in regulations, best practices, and clinical standards in skilled nursing

Qualifications

Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in California (required)
Minimum 2 years of experience in a skilled nursing facility (SNF) or similar clinical setting (required)
Previous experience in staff development, education, or nurse leadership role (required)
Experience training and supporting CNAs, LVNs, and RNs
Proficiency keeping electronic health records and employee information confidential
Current BLS/CPR certification (required)

Core Competencies

Strong background in geriatric, post-acute care, and behavioral health
Expertise in clinical training, competency validation, and staff development
Excellent leadership, coaching, and communication skills
Highly organized with strong attention to documentation and regulatory compliance
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced SNF environment
Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and staff success
