Full Job Description

Summary:

The Director of Clinical Services provides leadership, oversight, and direction for all clinical aspects within a comprehensive substance use disorder treatment program. This position is responsible for ensuring that services are delivered in accordance with best practices, state and federal regulations, and agency policies. The Director will supervise clinical staff, provide oversight for clinical services at assigned programs, ensure quality care for clients, and contribute to program development and performance improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field. Active, unrestricted California license as an MFT (LMFT) or LCSW. Minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical supervision and/or program management in a behavioral health or substance use treatment setting. Knowledge of addiction treatment models, co-occurring disorders, MAT practices and ASAM criteria. Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills. Familiarity with California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) regulations and Medi-Cal billing practices. Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and documentation standards. Proof of Automobile Insurance and maintain current CPR and First Aid Certificates. Must pass background check.

Duties:

Oversee the clinical and treatment programs at all programs, including detox services.
Supervise clinical staff (e.g. Clinical Supervisors, therapists, trainee students) ensuring effective performance and adherence to clinical standards.
Supervise programs as needed or assigned.
Ensure all services comply with applicable state (DHCS), federal, and accreditation standards.
Maintain and update clinical protocols, treatment modalities, and documentation practices aligned with evidence-based standards.
Provide regular individual and group supervision to clinical staff to support licensure and professional growth when needed.
Lead treatment team meetings, discharge planning, and crisis intervention at all programs as needed.
Provide ASAM trainings to all staff.
Manage the clinical intake, assessment, and discharge planning processes.
Collaborate with medical, psychiatric, and administrative departments to ensure integrated, holistic client care.
Participate in ongoing QA meetings, monitor utilization review, outcomes, and client satisfaction metrics as part of the leadership team.
Organize, develop, and deliver regular trainings to staff on a variety of subjects relevant to the needs of the agency. Work in cooperation with program staff to identify training needs and develop materials to address these needs.
Participate in strategic planning, grant development, and budgeting as a member of the leadership team.
Uphold trauma-informed, culturally responsive, harm reduction, and client-centered approaches in all services.
Consult and evaluate on an as-needed basis with program participants. Evaluate participants for the presence of psychiatric conditions and advocate on behalf of participants with area behavioral health service providers.
Participate in annual strategic planning activities with the Board of Directors
Mentor and Model skills for therapists and counseling staff
All other duties as assigned by the CEO.
Maintain compassion, empathy, and professionalism toward clients; their family members and/or significant others at all times.
Attend all required agency staff and training meetings.
Adhere to policies and procedures regarding absences and tardiness.
Ensure the highest level of service is provided to the people we serve.
Maintain client confidentiality in compliance with federal guidelines, including HIPAA regulations.
Adhere to staff Codes of Ethics and Conduct.
Adhere to policies and procedures set forth for agency.
Adhere to all safety and housekeeping standards established by IVRS.
Must have knowledge of federal, state and local laws, rules, regulations and standards governing all services provided by IVRS.

Essential Job Functions:

Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment including computers, copiers, calculators and fax machines.
Must be able to prepare correspondence.
Must be able to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions.
Must be able to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instruction.
Must be able to communicate effectively.

Pay: From $150,000.00 per year
