Full Job Description

We are an Inland Empire based contractor that specializes in underground wet utilities. We are looking for excellent, skilled, dependable and hardworking individuals who are not just looking for a job but a career to be engaged in, learn and grow in their position and with the company. We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator for immediate hire. We are proudly partnered with the Laborers' Union.

POSITION SUMMARY

The heavy equipment operator position is responsible for performing various duties on our private and capital improvements projects. Responsible for operating and maintaining various equipment including excavators, backhoes, loaders, and dozers in a safe expeditious manner and in accordance with OSHA safe practices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBITIES

Comply with operating safety rules and regulations per OSHA safe practices
Inspect equipment and turn in written equipment report daily
Prepare and maintain equipment for safe daily operations (i.e. fuel, grease etc.)
Safely change buckets and attachments in a timely manner
Understand mixing of soil and water content for proper backfill
Able to perform safe and clean trench excavation and backfill
Possess the knowledge of trench safety and shoring, sloping.
Must be able to trench around live utilities on public and private projects.
Able to set and pull shield shoring in accordance to OSHA safe practices
Able to calculate and set proper grades and elevations
Follow direction of the Superintendent/General Superintendent with regards to daily production schedule and activities.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

· Minimum of 5 years work experience and/or training (MUST HAVE).

· Extensive knowledge and ability to install sewer, water, fire and storm drain.

· Efficient in operating excavators, backhoes and front end loaders CAT

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Work well with others.

· Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

· Strong work ethic, professionalism, dedication

· Ability to show up on time at the jobsite

· Reliable transportation to be able to commute to various sites in the counties of Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange and Los Angeles.

· Must pass drug screen.

· Legally eligible to work in the US.
