Full Job Description

The Technical Designer 1 will require working closely with engineers, proposal managers, project managers, project engineers, and shop personnel. The scope of work includes utility boiler products as well as related auxiliary equipment such as flues and ducts, piping, fans, tanks, steel, etc.

Utilize the latest 2D and 3D CAD technology (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks and/or E3D) to prepare basic arrangement drawings, 3D models and basic assembly/details drawings/models for basic component parts.

Determine appropriate views, sections, and orientation on drawings to be made for the purpose of showing necessary information in the most effective manner.

Prepare bill of materials of component parts for arrangement drawings and assembly/detail drawings.

Apply information from customer specifications and contract information sheets, company standards, and procedures as directed.

Review and apply information contained on vendor documents as needed per assignment.

Make routine calculations as needed.

Verify drawing accuracy concerning items such as dimensions, fits, and tolerances.

As required, travel domestically to a job site with a Senior Technical Designer to perform an equipment walk-down to take field measurements and establish site specific requirements. Once experience and product knowledge is gained, travel internationally may be required.

Work alongside and with a global Tech Design team to meet all project requirements.

Perform all other duties as required

Preferred Work Experience

Obtain a 2-year associate degree in drafting/design or equivalent experience in industrial/utility design/detailing

One year experience preferred

Proficiency in AutoCAD required

Specific skills and/or business competencies:

Proficiency in SolidWorks or other 3D CAD packages is preferred.

Excellent critical thinking, time management, and organizational skills.

Detail oriented, demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills.
