This position reports to the Director of Operations.

Position Summary:

As a Production Manager, you will provide operational leadership to a team of hourly Operators within our food production facility. You are responsible for ensuring the safety, quality, and efficiency of your assigned production line. In this role, you will champion a culture of continuous improvement, foster team development, and ensure that all products meet our high standards for consumer safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety Leadership: Serve as a primary champion for safety. Ensure all team members follow established safety protocols, perform regular safety audits, and proactively identify hazards to maintain an injury-free work environment.
Operational Excellence: Lead the daily execution of production schedules to meet volume targets. Drive line efficiency, minimize downtime, and manage material usage effectively to reduce waste.
Quality & Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to food safety standards (GMPs) and BRC (British Retail Consortium) or similar certification requirements. Monitor product quality at every stage of the process to ensure brand integrity.
People Development: Coach, mentor, and develop a diverse team of hourly employees and supervisors. This includes performance management, skills training, conflict resolution, and creating an inclusive, high-performing work culture.
Continuous Improvement: Participate in and lead Lean Manufacturing initiatives. Identify bottlenecks, implement process improvements, and use data-driven insights to optimize line performance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with maintenance, quality assurance, warehouse, and plant management to resolve technical issues, schedule equipment maintenance, and manage staffing levels.

Requirements & Qualifications:

Experience: 3+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment (food/beverage industry strongly preferred).
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Technical Skills: Proficiency in manufacturing software (ERP/MES systems), MS Office, and a solid understanding of Lean/Six Sigma principles.
Leadership Presence: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and hold teams accountable in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility: Ability to work various shifts (including nights or weekends) as production demands require.
Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent written and verbal communication, and a bias for action.
