Position Overview
We have a full time opportunity with our client for an experienced CNC Programmer & Machinist to join our Fabrication Department. This is a highly skilled, low-volume machining role focused on producing custom one-off and short-run components and weldments. The ideal candidate enjoys both CNC programming and hands-on machining work, thrives in a custom fabrication environment, and takes pride in producing high-quality precision parts.
In this role, you will work with horizontal and vertical mills using conversational, Haas, and Fanuc CNC controls. Responsibilities include offline CAM programming, machine setup and operation, quality inspections, and troubleshooting throughout the machining process.
This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their work, solving complex setup challenges, and moving from project to project in a fast-paced fabrication environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate horizontal and vertical CNC mills
- Utilize conversational programming along with Haas and Fanuc CNC controls
- Create and modify offline programs using CNC CAM software
- Machine large custom weldments and small detail components from drawings and 3D models
- Plan and execute complex weldment setups
- Work on low-volume production runs (typically 1–4 parts per job)
- Perform machine setup, tear down, and tooling changes
- Maintain tight tolerances and high-quality standards
- Conduct inspections using precision measuring instruments
- Safely handle large components using forklifts and rigging techniques
- Troubleshoot machining, setup, and quality issues as needed
- Collaborate with team members and support the department supervisor
- Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of CNC machining experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment
- Minimum of 3 years of CAM programming experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Strong understanding of CNC machine setup and operation
- Experience machining weldments and complex fabricated components
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and 3D models
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience using precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, scales, and tape measures
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Positive attitude with the ability to work effectively within a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- CNC certifications or technical training
- Experience with Haas and Fanuc controls
- Forklift or rigging experience
