Full Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Cutter Operator / Folder Operator to join our print production 1st shift team. This position is responsible for operating paper cutters, folding equipment, and related bindery equipment to accurately finish printed materials according to job specifications.

The right candidate has hands-on bindery experience, pays close attention to detail, understands production deadlines, and takes pride in producing clean, accurate, high-quality finished work.

Responsibilities

Operate paper cutters, folding machines, and other bindery/finishing equipment
Set up, adjust, and run jobs according to job tickets and production specifications
Cut printed sheets to final size with accuracy and consistency
Set up and operate folders for brochures, letters, inserts, booklets, direct mail pieces, and other printed materials
Read and follow job tickets, work orders, folding layouts, samples, and customer specifications
Check measurements, trim size, fold position, grain direction, pagination, and final product quality
Perform quality checks throughout each job to ensure accuracy
Identify and correct issues such as misfeeds, crooked folds, poor registration, scuffing, cracking, or incorrect trim
Maintain clean and organized work areas
Communicate with supervisors, press operators, digital operators, CSR/project managers, and other production staff
Help move jobs through bindery and finishing on schedule
Perform basic machine maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting
Follow all company safety procedures when operating equipment
Assist with other bindery tasks as needed, including padding, drilling, stitching, shrink wrapping, handwork, packaging, or shipping support

Qualifications

Previous experience operating paper cutters, folders, or bindery equipment preferred
Printing, bindery, mailing, or finishing experience strongly preferred
Ability to read and understand job tickets, work orders, samples, and production specs
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to measure accurately and work with trim sizes, fold panels, and paper specifications
Mechanical aptitude and ability to make equipment adjustments
Ability to troubleshoot production issues and keep jobs moving
Able to stand for long periods and lift/move paper, cartons, and printed materials as needed up to 50lbs
Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment
Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
Willingness to help in other production or bindery areas when needed

Ideal Candidate

Has hands-on experience in a commercial printing or bindery environment
Understands paper handling, cutting, folding, scoring, and finishing basics
Can set up jobs accurately without constant supervision
Notices small issues before they become big problems
Works safely and keeps equipment and work areas clean
Communicates clearly with production staff
Takes ownership of job quality and deadlines
Is reliable, detail-oriented, and production-minded
