Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Metal Saw Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating various cutting and forming machines to accurately cut and bend metal materials according to technical specifications and blueprints. Your expertise will ensure precision in fabrication processes, contributing to the production of high-quality metal components. This position offers an energetic environment where safety, efficiency, and craftsmanship are prioritized.

Duties

Set up and operate metal cutting equipment such as band saws, circular saws, and automated saw machines to cut sheet metal, tubing, and structural components.
Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and shop math to determine proper cutting angles, dimensions, and procedures.
Use precision measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments to verify dimensions and ensure quality standards are met.
Maintain safety standards by adhering to safety protocols during machine operation and handling hazardous materials.
Perform routine maintenance on saw equipment, including tool setup, calibration, and troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
Collaborate with team members on fabrication projects involving CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, forming machines, and other machining processes.
Conduct quality inspections of cut parts to ensure compliance with specifications and document inspection results.

Requirements

Proven experience operating metal saws or similar machining equipment in a manufacturing environment.
Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints accurately.
Familiarity with CNC programming, CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, and other CNC machining techniques is highly desirable.
Ability to use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators for precision measurement.
Knowledge of safety standards in production environments including proper use of hand tools and machine guarding procedures.
Basic math skills including shop math necessary for accurate measurements and calculations during fabrication.
Mechanical aptitude with experience in welding, forming machines, press brakes, CNC lathes/milling machines, stamping presses or sheet metal fabrication is a plus.
Ability to operate cranes or forklifts safely when handling heavy materials or finished parts.
