Position Summary
The Mechanical Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing industrial mechanical projects from award through final completion. This position serves as the primary point of contact for customers while leading project planning, scheduling procurement, field coordination, budgeting, and change management to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The Project Manager works closely with Estimating, Project Coordinators, Foreman, field crews, vendors, subcontractors, and company leadership to successfully execute maintenance, outage, shutdown, capital improvement, and industrial construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Execution
· Develop and manage project execution plans from project award through completion.
· Break projects into daily and weekly work plans to ensure efficient field execution.
· Develop manpower plans, work sequencing, schedules, and resource requirements.
· Monitor project progress and proactively address schedule impacts and operational challenges.
· Coordinate project turnover with Estimating to ensure project scope, budgets, assumptions, exclusions, and customer expectations are fully understood.
Customer & Project Management
· Serve as the primary points of contact for customers throughout project execution.
· Build and maintain strong customer relationships through responsive communication and professional project management.
· Conduct project meetings and provide customers with schedule updates, progress reports, and projects status.
· Coordinate with customers regarding outages, shutdowns, startup activities, and project logistics.
Procurement & Material Management
· Obtain material quotations from multiple vendors and evaluate pricing, availability, and delivery schedules.
· Select the appropriate vendor based on project requirements, quality, cost, and schedule.
· Submit purchasing decisions to the Project Coordinator for purchase order verification and material procurement.
· Coordinate equipment rentals, specialty tooling, subcontractors, and long-lead materials.
· Monitor procurement activities to ensure materials and equipment are available when needed.
Field Leadership & Coordination
· Support Foreman and field crews throughout project execution by providing direction, resources, and operational guidance.
· Coordinate manpower, subcontractors, equipment, and materials to support project schedules.
· Conduct regular jobsite visits to monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and assist with problem resolution.
· Work closely with field leadership to improve productivity, communication, safety, and project execution.
Change Management
· Identify work that falls outside the original project scope.
· Communicate out-of-scope work with customers and discuss potential impacts to schedule and cost.
· Prepare and draft change orders with supporting documentation for customer review.
· Submit change orders to the Estimator for final pricing review and approval.
· Track approved change orders through completion and maintain accurate project documentation.
Financial & Project Performance
· Monitor project budgets, labor productivity, forecasts, and overall financial performance.
· Review labor hours and project costs to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and profitability.
· Escalate significant operational, commercial, staffing procurement, or schedule risks to leadership in a timely manner.
· Participate in project closeout meetings and lessons learned to improve future project execution.
Safety & Quality
· Promote a strong culture of safety throughout every phase of project execution.
· Ensure projects comply with OSHA regulations, customer safety requirements, and company policies.
· Verify work is completed in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations.
· Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, and operational performance.
Qualifications
· High School Diploma or equivalent.
· Minimum five (5) years of experience managing industrial mechanical construction, maintenance, outage, or shutdown projects.
· Strong understanding of industrial mechanical systems, piping, rigging, welding, equipment installation, and construction sequencing.
· Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, specifications, and mechanical plans.
· Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
· Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams.)
· Valid Driver’s License
· Willingness to travel to customer sites (50-75%)

Pay: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour
