Full Job Description

Position Summary:

A Mail Clerk is responsible for receiving, sorting and delivering mail and packages. It is expected that a mail clerk will carry out these responsibilities with an attention to accuracy, efficiency, and customer service.

This is an onsite position Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm at our Corporate Headquarters in Reading, PA.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsible for picking up, sorting, and delivering mail.

Lifting and moving boxes and packages.

Run postage meter machine.

Prepare packages for courier services.

Deliver mail to Penske locations.

Audit and approve courier invoices.

Administrative duties related to the tracking of intercompany correspondence.

Assist Penske associates with their mailing and shipping needs.

Other varied duties typical of a corporate mail center.

Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent required.

Valid Driver’s license required.

Proficiency in use of a computer, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.

Ability to learn new software programs, including web based shipping applications.

Ability to lift and/or move up to 50lb packages or freight boxes.

Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required.

The associate will be required to: read; communicate verbally and/or in written form; remember and analyze certain information; and remember and understand certain instructions or guidelines.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be required to stand, walk, and sit. The associate is frequently required to use hands to touch, handle, and feel, and to reach with hands and arms. The associate must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs/23kg.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
