Full Job Description

THE POSITION

Build a meaningful career as a Clerical Assistant 2 with the Department of Human Services, Wernersville State Hospital. This role supports the Maintenance Department and helps keep daily operations running smoothly. You will work in an active environment where your organizational skills make a real impact. Join a team dedicated to supporting a safe and efficient hospital setting for patients and staff.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides clerical and administrative support to the Maintenance Department, helping staff manage documents, requests, reports, and daily operational needs. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

Administrative Support: Compose correspondence, prepare reports, arrange schedules, and organize documents for departmental needs
Service Requests: Receive maintenance requests by phone or radio and enter them into the automated work order system
Order Processing: Manage supply orders, track deliveries, and complete purchasing tasks using the SAP and SRM systems
Record Keeping: Maintain detailed files, logs, and records related to maintenance work, employee information, and departmental reporting
Communication Tasks: Interact with staff, vendors, and visitors to exchange information needed for operational and reporting requirements
Inventory Control: Monitor distribution and record keeping of keys, radios, and other maintenance equipment

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Hours may change based on operational needs.

Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,831 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
Graduation from high school; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
