Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer supports the execution of engineering projects, new equipment installations, building and facility upgrades, and maintenance improvement initiatives across multiple manufacturing facilities. This role focuses on improving equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and enhancing plant operations by providing hands-on technical support, coordinating contractors and vendors, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and in compliance with company standards and applicable codes. The Manufacturing Engineer collaborates closely with Maintenance, Production, Engineering, Safety, and external partners to drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, efficiency, and long-term asset performance.
Responsibilities

Support the Director of Engineering in setting engineering priorities and executing capital projects, equipment upgrades, building projects, and plant improvement initiatives.

Plan and execute new equipment projects in coordination with the Facilities Project Manager, including equipment layouts, scope development, RFQs, vendor communication, cost estimates, schedules, installation, startup, commissioning, and project closeout.

Assist with building and facility projects such as plant layout changes, office and production area modifications, utility upgrades, HVAC systems, cooling towers, compressed air systems, water systems, electrical systems, and other infrastructure improvements.

Coordinate with Maintenance, Production, Safety, contractors, vendors, and equipment suppliers to complete work safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to operations.

Provide technical support to Maintenance for troubleshooting, repair, reliability improvement, and root-cause analysis of production equipment, utilities, and facility systems.

Develop and improve preventive maintenance procedures, inspection checklists, equipment documentation, work instructions, and maintenance standards to enhance reliability and maintainability.

Review equipment and building systems for safety, maintainability, reliability, accessibility, and compliance with applicable codes and internal standards.

Prepare and maintain project documentation, including drawings, layouts, scopes of work, purchase requisition support, progress updates, completion reports, manuals, and equipment records.

Support the use of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including spare parts planning, equipment history tracking, maintenance documentation, and continuous improvement of maintenance effectiveness.

Identify and implement improvements that increase safety, uptime, product quality, operational efficiency, energy performance, and long-term equipment reliability.

Ensure compliance with company policies, safety procedures, environmental requirements, OSHA requirements, and applicable codes in all assigned activities.

Communicate project status, risks, and progress clearly to stakeholders while managing action items and schedules.

Perform other related engineering and maintenance support duties as assigned.
Essential Skills

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or a related technical field.

Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with manufacturing equipment, maintenance, facilities, reliability, project engineering, or plant engineering.

Proven experience supporting new equipment installation, commissioning, building projects, facility systems, preventive maintenance, and reliability improvement.

Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, HVAC, utility, and building systems.

Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, equipment manuals, layouts, and technical documentation.

Ability to develop project scopes, coordinate vendors and contractors, follow schedules, track action items, and clearly communicate project status.

Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Experience working effectively with maintenance technicians, production employees, contractors, vendors, and management.

Knowledge of 2D CAD and 3D modeling; experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks is preferred.

Self-directed and dependable, with the ability to work independently while keeping leadership informed of priorities, risks, and progress.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing requirements while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.

Valid driver’s license.

Demonstrated involvement in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, and efficiency.

Comfort working in cross-functional teams that include Engineering, Maintenance, Production, and Safety.

Familiarity with CMMS systems and spare parts planning.

Ability to provide clear technical documentation and work instructions for maintenance and operations teams.
Work Environment
This role operates primarily in an industrial manufacturing environment and requires strict adherence to all safety procedures and guidelines. The position involves regular movement throughout the facility, including the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and move up to 400 yards to work and break areas. Flexible work hours may be required to support production demands or critical troubleshooting events. The Manufacturing Engineer works in a variety of physical environments, including indoors and outdoors, and may be exposed to noisy or dusty conditions, variable temperatures, and changing weather. Travel to multiple facilities is required as needed. The role requires the ability to see, hear, communicate clearly, and distinguish colors. Personal protective equipment is mandatory, including eye protection and steel-toe shoes, and hearing protection is required in areas with light to moderate noise levels. The position may involve working near moving mechanical parts and exposure to airborne particles and vibration. Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity are essential for repetitive tasks and physical activities such as reaching overhead, under, and across equipment, as well as bending, stooping, twisting, and crawling under machinery. The role requires the ability to stand for an eight-hour shift or remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods, depending on the work being performed.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
